Sneak Peek at Signs of Faith (long + pics)

By dvang, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

@ Feriluce:

IIRC correctly, I vaguely recall that Edge of Night might have been present too. Although I could be mistaken. I did not pick it up, however, if it was there. I was a bit too distracted by the other shiny toys that I probably missed it.

@ Krysst:

That was something that Jay said during the Seminar. He joking spoke at points about "How does healing outside combat work?" questions, and finally he answered it (I think at the end Q&A). We didn't pick the gritty details, as I recall he said something along the lines of:

"Wounds should be difficult to heal and linger around. The intent for healing was that each source of healing could only happen once per day. So, First Aid once per day, Splints & Bandages once per day, a specific healing blessing by a priest of Shallya once per day, and so on."

Something similar anyway. You'll need to wait for the official podcast of the seminar for the actual words used. He did not differentiate between combat and non-combat specifically, although I believe the original topic was healing outside of combat.

@ pumpkin

Hmm. I'm at work so I don't know much about the party cards. I didn't recall seeing anything about them when I was skimming through the books, although it is easily possible that I missed it (I only briefly flipped through looking for shinies). I dimly recall Jay mentioning something about them during the seminar (I think). I believe it's something like the party may change to Advanced party card only if every character in the party is Rank 2 or higher. As for the cards themselves, again I didn't take a good look at them yet, but I believe they might have more talent sockets and some more powerful abilities.

Wow, thanks again dvang for the excellent overview and pics! I really appreciate the time you took to share this with us all.

Thanks Dvang, looks great. I can't wait. Anymore hints previews?

Anyone noted the "Elite" moniker on the Prophet of Doom card?

Also, one of the traits is "Religious" opposed to the existing "Religion" trait. I wonder if that's just a typo or is it supposed to be different?

I picked up this and Edge of Night at the booth. Both look very nice.

Do you think you could maybe tell us a bit about the contents of the Edge of Night? (Without spoilers, if possible – otherwise I guess this would need to be posted with appropriate warnings and in the Gamemasters section…

That would be wonderful! happy.gif

Busy at work and I've got 5 kids. Haven't done more than flip through in on the flight back. I'll do what I can but I'm at the wife's beck and call for a bit since I was at Gencon (payback and all that) B-)

So both Signs of Faith and Edge of Night were available for Gencon? Does that mean that they will be available in stores soon? The Upcoming page says Edge is on the boat and Signs is at the printer. Is this completely wrong or are the Gencon products just advance copies?

That's a whole party!

Hey, folks, who's that guy with moon-like-face shown in the picture of the standups?

Mac Tonight

Actually I'm interested to know, too.

Gencon's advanced copies. I've seen FFG products at Gencon show up in stores in as little as a week or two after the show, while others took upwards of two months before arrival. S@@N is the best timeline to look at.

That's the standup for the Performer, who is in kind of an evil jester's outfit.

Out of curiosity, what skill does the Perfomer has that lets him perform? Tradecraft (i guess, since that's where the Perfomance specialization is)? Charm?

Thanks for the preview dvang!

At the semina Jay said the the Signs Of faith will be avaliable shortly after GenCon and mentioned that The Edge Of Night is avaliable, how? The Edge Of Night is still on the boat and Signs Of Faith is still in development in the upcoming section. Anybony knows when it all will be avaliable in stores? Or when the upcoming section will be updated with the Guides and Vaults?

One interesting blessing card I see, is a Rank 3 Sigmar called "Hammer of God"

tidbits (Reckless side):

It has a 5-success line that gives +8 damage

It has two 1-boon lines for +1 damage each

It has a 2-Comet (yes, TWO Comets) line that does +WP damage and +1 critical

Ouch, this card has the potential to do a LOT of damage.

There are also blessing cards for:

Magnificent Buboes, Stream of Corruption, Cloud of Flies,Stench of Nurgle, Nurgle's Touch, and Miasma of Pestilence.

They're all pretty icky to be the target of.

Yes, but... a Priest of Sigmar with at least 2 yellowe dice?

Beside... what are the skills of the Priest? Did he get Weapon Skill?

As Priest is a generic career sheet, the skill list isn't very accurate for each divinity. I authorize my player to switch some skills more appropriates ones. In example : Weapon Skill for priest of sigmar.

I totally agree and I think this was a missed opportunity for the FFG team to add more diversity to the various faiths. The various career cards for the individual cults could delineate these additional/optional/replacement skills. The same goes for wizards too.

They're free to pay 2x to get weapon Skill. I don't really consider Sigmar priests having extensive martial training. Yes they wield hammers and are not afraid to use them, but combat is not their focus. A soldier/mercenary etc... sees a lot of combat.

Agents of Faith (as an optional rule) adds an additional class skill for each faith. (or is it two... I don't have the book in front of me.) Sigmar gets WS, etc.

Forgive my ignorance - but what is 'Agents of Faith'? Is it a 2nd ed book, or a subsection in Signs of Faith?

I can only guess, but I think it's one of the thin booklets inside the Signs of Faith Paper Box.

Possible but unlikely. I scrolled to the beginning of the post to check out the pictures. It is 'signs of faith' and 'liber infectus'. Even checked the chapter headings. Its possible the poster mis-spoke or is quoting something differing, but I'd love to hear where this optional rule is, as it would be very welcome in the game I am part of.
