Sneak Peek at Signs of Faith (long + pics)

By dvang, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

** Warning, the following is a long post with pictures! **

Ok, here is the requested peek at Signs of Faith. I took pictures with the intent to show content, but hopefully not spoil rules and stuff, at least not too much. Please excuse the poor photography, and the sometimes bad reflection or yellowy-look. I had trouble getting the lighting right while keeping stuff (like print) legible.

I'll put some captions below the pics. So, strap yourselves in and here we go!

The Faith cards

SoF20.JPG

The new talents and three condition cards. Notice Nurgle's Rot is a condition, not a disease. That's because it is incurable. Muahaahaha!

SoF21.JPG

Six Nurgly mutation cards

SoF22.JPG

Disease cards, and for the lucky few, three Mark of Nurgle cards.

SoF23.JPG

Some new Item cards and Location cards

SoF24.JPG

A very thick stack of Blessing cards. It measures about 1 and 1/4 inches tall total.

SoF25.JPG

I thought I'd point out that it includes a copy of all the Basic Blessing cards, including Curry Favor. Yay!

Whew! There you go. A glimpse into what you get. It looks pretty cool, and diseases look to be very nasty and downright dirty for GMs to inflict upon their players. For one thing, although certain enemies can inflict disease, simply sleeping on a dirty mattress, eating questionable food, or wading in the sewers can also inflict disease. The WFRP world just got a whole hell of a lot dirtier and grimmer. Plus, all diseases can be fatal.

Enjoy. I haven't thoroughly read through everything yet. Feel free to ask questions about stuff, and I'll answer what I can. cool.gif

You are a Scholar (With 9 advances!) and a Gentleman.

May Grandfather Nurgle bless you.

Wow! Thanks for the detailed post with photos.

It says on Amazon that this product is not going to be released until November 14th.

That's just not going to work for me.

Ok, once more a big thanks to Dvang for the pick and a little sneak pick of what's inside of Signs of Faith. it's looking like this is going to be a great expansion. Lot's of new stuff, cards, info, sheets and great new careers (Assasin is my favourite - loved to play him in previous editions).

I can't not wait to buy it, so I hope that this will be avalliable soon in US and Europe.

God bless Jay and all the FFG WFRP team for such a great work they are doing!

Things of beauty babeo.gif

Now instead of doing my job I will sit idle at work, and watch those photos, counting days till I get it all gran_risa.gif

I love this game.

Yet again this expansion seems to cleverly add new content as well as slowly expand on existing content. Adding stuff in this way really works for me as it allows me to slowly introduce new rules and options with the players when we are ready for them, rather than being overwhelmed with them all at the start. Don't get me wrong, our group are all very experienced gamers, but this whole process makes me reminisce back to the old red, blue and beyond DnD boxed sets, back when DnD was still rules lite and relatively fun.

I am really excited by the diease rules, and stuff, and the disfavour options for priests will be interesting and a good addition (for me, if not our priestly player!)

New careers all look ace, the Assassin returns, and I think one of our players may be interested in the pedlar of all things...

I also really like the way FFG make sure they always add in plenty of cardboard content, new stand ups are always a welcome addition, but also additional centre stance pieces to help build numerous progress tracks is more than worth its weight in gold; sometimes it is the little things that make something great.

Can't wait to get my tentacles on this

Thanks a bunch! Interesting careers – in particular because it also includes social careers like the Performer and the Chamberlain. I would have expected that we would need to wait for the Slaneesh expansion before we get a Performer/Entertainer, but now it seems like we will get the advanced version of that career in the Slaneesh supplement. Great!

Also: six skills for the Witch Hunter Captain (and probably three Talent slots) happy.gif

Anyone noted the "Elite" moniker on the Prophet of Doom card?

means we have basic ->intermediate ->advanced ->elite

confirmed....

I wonder if anything goes beyond elite!?!?

I love the fact that each new box adds something to every aspect of the game: not just new spells/blessings, but talents, careers, party sheets, standups, a new mechanic for disease and a new adventure. I'm so glad that FFG are sticking with this format moving forward because it feels fantastic to be running a game where each new release contains such a wealth of diverse content, all of which adds enormously to game play (if Winds of Magic is anything to go by).

I'm just trying to visualise how much content we will have by the time all four 'Ruinous Power' modules have been released, quite apart from the additional adventures and Dwarf box...

Fantastic stuff. Thank you Dvang.

Wow! I love the new adv. careers coming out. My money is burning in my pockets for this box set.

I did notice that, but I figured it was the next logical progression, paragon (or something) will probably be 5th. What gets me is that Prophet of Doom is Elite while Flagellant is Intermediate. Unless I missed something I do not see an Advanced career for that career track?

I wondered about the Elite thing too. But I wonder if you are right: isn’t the Prophet of Doom rank 3 and not rank 4?

Zealot / Basic > Flagellant / Intermediate > Prophet of Doom / Advanced

I wonder where the Elite comes from – my guess is that this trait is more aimed at Actions etc. that might require the Elite trait to use (i.e. particularly powerful attacks that will come out in the Khorne supplement).

Also just noticed the new party sheets have the Advanced trait. Curiouser and curiouser.

One interesting blessing card I see, is a Rank 3 Sigmar called "Hammer of God"

tidbits (Reckless side):

It has a 5-success line that gives +8 damage

It has two 1-boon lines for +1 damage each

It has a 2-Comet (yes, TWO Comets) line that does +WP damage and +1 critical

Ouch, this card has the potential to do a LOT of damage.

There are also blessing cards for:

Magnificent Buboes, Stream of Corruption, Cloud of Flies,Stench of Nurgle, Nurgle's Touch, and Miasma of Pestilence.

They're all pretty icky to be the target of.

What's the basic damage (1 success) of the "Hammer of God" card?

Does anyone know what toughness and soak the great unclean one has? How does the great unclean one compares to the lord of change?

@ Armoks

I believe it was Normal Damage. IIRC (I'm at work and don't have it here) it was a melee attack (requiring a hammer or great hammer), so would do St+DR.

There was also a 3-success line for +4 damage.

@ Lordsneek

Yes. I don't recall what a LoC's stats are, and without my books I only briefly recall the GUO's stats, but in essence the GUO is *really* hard to kill. I would suggest it is likely (also going off memory) he has something like To 8 and 10 soak (or maybe the reverse), not counting special abilites and spells that can increase his To and Soak.

I simply hadn't slated enough money for the things I wanted at GenCon. I was sooo surprised to see the TWO supplements at the show, wish I'd brought enough!

Ack - had no idea they would be at GenCon [the suppliments not the company...lol] and totally would have sent money with my cohorts who went that way!

Looks awesome and I can NOT wait to throw a disease on my group! *grins*

This looks excellent! Thanks so much for posting all of this. What a massive amount of new stuff.

I am surprised that this was at GenCon though. I thought Edge of Night was supposed to be released first? Was that available as well?

Man, if we have to wait until the for for Signs of Faith, it's going to be rough. Hopefully they're both out soon.

You mentioned some changes in how healing works, each skill being used once per day, spells possibly too. Did you get a chance to go through that section yet if it is actually clarified?

Good spot! What on earth can that mean!? Dvang, does it say anything about the party cards not being selectable for new parties? Or do they look generally a bit better power wise than the party cards we've had available so far?

I am extremely curious about where they might be going with that.

I think FFG could do a lot more with the trait concept than they have currently

Thanks for all your GenCon coverage and now this Signs of Faith coverage Dvang, you rock!

Ooh. Advanced party cards.
