Has an expansion been annouced?

here's a link to the thread:

There's a link to the PDF files in that thread somewhere.

Note that I'm changing a few of the heroes abilities soon, though.

All the expansion needs to do is give us the ability to scale up to 6 players.

The biggest (only real) problem with this game is picking who the chosen 3 other people are to play it with!

It's great that it plays faster than TI3 with 4 players, but this game is BETTER than TI3 and could be just as much fun as a 6-7hour 6player epic.

Hell, if you offered me 8 players, I probably STILL wouldn't say no.

It's.

Just.

That.

Good.

I +1 for a 6 player expansion.

Doesnt seems too complicated to do : add several more hex tiles, 2 more nations and required quest/tactics/objectif cards.

Except there is one tricky shot to be made :

The map.

While it work well for 2-4 player, the current map build wouldn't be as good with 6th player, especially as it will be overcrowded if too linear or with a large no mans land in the middle if too round. Also the number of tiles required to expand the playing area for the other player seems to be in a exponantial number (as is the extra row in SE), each new player requiring more hex by player.

It is sometimes tricky to set up for 4 player, even with the 3 square limit. Setting up for 6 would be a nightmare if not ressorting to preselected maps. There is a finite number of shape in wich 6 players could be separated from each other by 4 hexagones: a line, a circle, an hexagone (plain or empty), a square (for 5 players), a box for 6 players (big box indead, and better yet for 8 players).

I think Runewards will lost much of his map appeal by doing so.

Except by ressorting to 2 seriously weird races :

- Underground dwarfs : only set up with 1 hex, have an off map area of 2 more hexagones that can only be entered from the one outside (have the ability to set up in any hole in the middle of the map). This can be developed by adding a whole underground map with special passage toward the surface and mire underground races.

- Invading barbarian : set up by choosing 2-3 beach area (not necessiraly linker) they come from, will need special restriction and limitation on bringing reinforcement from mainland, perhaps they have no Forts and can only recruit from controlled beach areas.

i cant understand the players who want the 6 player version so urgent that they even do not play it with 4 players. buy a second copy of the game ynd you can play it with 8 players !

next step would be to paint second game moidels in different colours to assume to have different races, for example : human yellow makes dwarves, chaos orange makes orcs, elves white makes high elves, undead black makes darkelves. it is that simple.

next step would be very expensive, but a great step : go to standard sized models, from gamesworkshop, reaper miniatures etc. this way you can expand the game beyond any imagination.

next step is to overwork characters way to play, combat and magic.

yiou can do anything out of this game, it has the best material any game gave you forever.

Those could be fine fan-made races, but high elves and dark elves aren't really part of the Terrinoth mythos.

about the time for an expansion : consider if they introduce two new races for a 6 player version there is much to design and create. plus as always ffg creates a lot more stuff, alternative victory conditions etc it would be interesting to see how long ffg worked on runewars from the start of the project to its release.
