According to Kenshins Review on B&C , there are several Bolter Patterns included, iirc from some threads and comments at least the Stalker is in

That and the Stalker, which is basically a bolter sniper, single shot only, accurate, and has an integrated silencer. Also longer range and I don't think it holds the same amount of bullets as the "standard" Godwyn Pattern.

So, how big a horde of normal humans (guardsmen for instance) would you guys say 4 starting marines could defeat? 20? 50?

In the first session on the game I'm running, ONE starting marine took two Magnitude 15 rebel hvy weapon teams and a Mag 30 Rebel swarm, at the same time, by himself. He took about half his health and 8-10 rounds to do it. The rebels were unarmored, but otherwise had Guard equipment.

BTW- hvy flamers are kinda powerful if used correctly.

Elsewhere in that adventure, if the Kill-Team is less that subtle, it is possible to meet 5 Mag 50 swarms at the same time, and for the rebels to get re-enforced.

Aye, Standard Issue Marine Godwyn Pattern Bolters, and Stalker Pattern Bolters that can be requisitioned when you are more experienced.

Thanks for the answers and additional Info, makes the waiting less tedious :)

To be honest I always viewed the marine bolter patterns to be more cosmetic in their variant than functional.

I wonder if it's possible to have a some more character posted the way Darkrose50 did, that was really enlighening.

Hi a small question about curse of the primarchs. Are those things like one turns into a Wulfen?
Can one give examples for what it does ? (I can't imagine in what direction it would go for ultramarines)

So... umm... yeah... 'bout those Bolter rounds?

*cough*

um page 23 of this thread - you responded to the post?

Are you able to get a snipe rifle or the stalker pattern boltgun?

it is a pity, there are different patterns of bolters http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/SPACE-MARINE-BOLTER-PHOBOS-PATTERN-X10.html

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/SPACE-MARINE-BOLTER-UMBRA-FERROX-X10.html

and so on

also various bolter patterns pictured in Codex Space Marines (5ed)

There is an Astartes Sniper Rifle. I assume of the Marine-Scout variety. It has Felling, which I'm not sure what that does yet, and Toxic, but throws less damage dice than the bolter.

The Stalker pattern boltgun Is accurate and has tearing. It rocks for taking out squad leaders / single targets to reduce horde willpower. It has a higher reknown requirement than the godwyn does.

ok thank you :)

Sounds suitably epic :) Thanks for the answer!

Do melta and plasma weapons do more damage in Deatwatch in a manner similar to boltguns?

Looking at Rogue Trader: Into the Storm I found it odd that an Autocannon does significantly more damage than a melta weapon of the basic variety. The MM does the same as an Autcannon. Granted the penetration values are signifanctly different, but I just found it odd. Hence my question. I want to use my Inferno Pistol or Meltagun to stop fleeing vehicle dead in their tracks. So if they do I might start using the upgraded versions.assumign they exist.

Yes they all do slightly more damage with a slightly higher penetration - Also Plasma weapons don't have "Overheats" quality and gain "Volatile" quality (Automatically do Righteous Fury on a 10).

what's the stats of a plasma gun then ?

The Astartes Melta Weapons at short range deal an extra 1d10 damage, in addition to being slightly more powerful base stat wise, also more ammo in clip.

1d10+8 or 9 for plasma gun off the top of my head, as others have mentioned, it has the volatile tag and can fire on maximal, same ROF as plasma from rogue trader.

Also, Astartes Flame Weapons deal an extra 4 fire damage when you catch someone on fire

One of my PC's, the Apothecary, picked up an Imperial Guard Autocannon and is carrying it around to help out the Devastator. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Out of curiosity, does anyone have the stats for an Autocannon? I'm just guessing when I told him what the stats were.

Not quite my friend.

From the Bolter & Chainsword review of Deathwatch:

" One of the largest sections is Special Issue Ammunition. Since the Deathwatch were first introduced in the tabletop game, they have had various bolt shells that were unique to them. This is continued and expanded in Deathwatch. Hellfire rounds, kraken rounds, metal storm rounds and Witch Bolts are just some of the options given. "

Unless I am mistaken, 'Witch Bolts' were not one of the types mentioned on Page 23 and, additionally, this review seems to imply that this section is larger than we were led to believe. If everything has been listed and Witch Bolts were the one type forgotten about, then fine, but I'd like a full list just for completenesses sake (plus we're doing homebrew Deathwatch Rules for 40K, I'd love to know all the ammo types, and my copy of Deathwatch is still a ways away).

The bolt rounds are:

Dragonfire

Hellfire

Implosion

Kraken

Metal Storm

Stalker

Vengeance

Witch Bolt

They can be used in bolt pistol, bolter, or heavy bolter, bolter is default requisition, bolt pistol is 1/2 requisition, and heavy bolter is +5 to requisition cost. Each time you purchase it gives you 1 clip.
