Greyjoy/Greyjoy (Joe and Louie, I don't know last names).
Cool, thanks! Was it two mill decks? GJ Winter? GJ Rush, etc., etc.?
Also, does anyone know how many teams played?
There were 6 teams, GJ uo/lanni kneel, GJ Mill/GJ, Stark/Bara, Stark Siege/Stark, and not sure what the other two teams were. You got to name your own team so that was cool. I ended up not playing because I got up so late. The winning team of GJ Mill(JeruselamJones)/GJ(Louie) was formed by Louie showing up with his Joust GJ deck and asking if anyone didn't have a partner. JJ said he didn't and pulled out a random deck. Apparently randomness is the way to go for 2v2!
Haha, that's awesome.
congrats joe. thanks for bringing home some win to meta-sota.
The other teams were double Greyjoy mill (which was scary as hell) and Targ burn/Greyjoy.
It was a really fun event, I'm looking forward to it next year.
I'm definitely planning on doing the 2v2 next year, assuming 12 people is enough to keep it going.
I hope it's around next year. If so, expect one team from New York to be playing in it.
jj deck was a greyjoy raid deck that was there to discard card from people deck
My deck was designed as as Raid/Save deck. It ran most of the discard characters, plus some of the major uniques Euron, Balon, Victarion, Asha, etc. The only saves I didn't use were Salt Wife and Wyndemyr, and had three bodyguards. Louie was pretty much Greyjoy Kill. In every game it became Winter, and we used his Winter Marauders and TfR Theon to devastating effect. Often in the early game I would be weak and use my saves for his characters, then late game I could swoop in for the win. I have been trying to make an effective raid deck for joust to no good effect, but in this partnership our decks had amazing synergy with each other.
Big props go out to Scurvy, which I used once on an opponent's Wyndemar to stop a double-save threat, and by making renown characters more fragile. And I think I pulled off the 8 discard army in every game.
I could see how that could be fierce.
My natural inclination would be two similar Greyjoy Raid decks one with a second focus on saves and the other on either income denial or kill.
Targ/GJ also seems particularly brutal pairing if it is a UO/Intimidate deck matched with a burn deck.
