Can we get an idea of what shiny new toys this book will provide us? What vehicles does it provide? What equipment? While i am ofcause chomping at the bit to know what weapons it provides, i would especially love to know what oddities of equipment the book presents? Anything cool and unusual?
I've got "Into the Storm"...any questions?
Is there any suggestion or rules about how an Orks spores could cause trouble for the crew ?
Are there any new las weapons ?

There are suggestions, and a lot of how Orks reproduce is covered. The flaw is that Orks need somewhere to grow, and metal flooring doesn't work well with that. Orks are more of a problem when you take them dirt-side.
Hey Deadline 24/7 / Millandson you lucky devils - how big is the section on Port Wander? Is it similar to the Footfall section in Lure of the Expanse, or is it a bit more extensive?
Port Wander section is 17 pages long.
Thanks, Deadline 24/7. So at least twice the size of the Footfall Gazzetteer then, excellent!
How do the Kroot work? Does their Eating-the-dead have a mechanical side or is that just something you do for fun and to improve the next generations?
It doesn't have a mechanical side, it's just something characterful the Kroot do for future generations.
How easy would it be to use the new career ranks and origins with Dark Heresy?
Are the Kroot/Orks on par with RT characters and therefore better than starting DH characters?
Any new critters?
Can I have your copy? ![]()
Any rules on Torpedos and missiles?

Do starships have hydroponics to provide food for the masses or even just for the officer classes?

At the RT Seminar, Sam said that the torpedo rules are definitely going to be in the upcoming ship book.
So, what's up with the expanded mechanics on aquisition? I've always felt that it needs more robust rules for buying many things at once, not as in many lasguns but as in many different inexspensive things. Anything like that?

Yes. There are rules for increasing the difficulty of acquisition tests the more you make, as well as having multiple and/or large acquisitions generate "unwanted attention", such as thieves. There are also rules for a "cost is no limit" need to acquire something, such as getting your ship repaired ASAP or whatnot where you just need it done/bought, regardless of the cost.
Vehicles, off the top of my head (I don't have the book here at work with me):
Aquila Lander, Lighter, Fury Interceptor, Gun-cutter, Ore hauler, Land Speeder, Rhino, Sentinel Walker, Ork Warbike, Sky Yacht. I think I'm missing one or two more.

The alternate ranks are built to fit in with Rogue Trader careers specifically, as is only fitting for a Rogue Trader book. You'd need to adjust the entry requirements and things like that to make them work in Dark Heresy, but making the Arch-Militant's alternate rank options immediately compatible with Dark Heresy Guardsmen wasn't a priority.
Origins... you'd need to find some way to price them and make them available. The origins are an expansion of the origin path, and consequently don't have an immediate counterpart in Dark Heresy.
There are chunks of the book - the first (character origins) chapter amongst others - that won't be of huge use to people wanting a Dark Heresy sourcebook - it was written with Rogue Trader in mind first and foremost, for obvious reasons. Similarly, the equipment lacks costs in Thrones because individual item costs aren't relevant to Rogue Trader, the new Astropath powers work with the Rogue Trader system, and so forth. People playing Rogue Trader will get the most out of this book, almost certainly.
Peacekeeper_b said:
That's the intention; they're characters in a Rogue Trader supplement designed for use with Rogue Trader, and consequently will fit alongside a Rogue Trader group better than they might fit alongside a Dark Heresy or Deathwatch group, for various reasons.

Not really the focus of the book, and while we bounced around some ideas early on, there were lots of things we would have liked to include in Into the Storm that we simply didn't have time or space for.

As has been noted in a few places - in this thread, at the seminars at GenCon, and in the release schedule that was put up a few weeks ago - rules for Torpedoes, Attack Craft and Nova Cannons will be published in Battlefleet Koronus.
It was discussed whether or not Torpedoes, etc should appear in Into the Storm, but we all felt that they could be better served by putting them in a dedicated starships book and giving them a good amount of space and detail, rather than cramming them into an already-packed book.
OK, one last set of questions from me...
(1) How big is the book? Is it the same size as the Inquisitor's Handbook?
(2) What's your view of the quality of the book? People are saying it's an Inquisitor's Hanbook for RT: how does it compare to that book?
I understand that it isnt a Dark Heresy sourcebook. But some of the new ranks and origin worlds sound fitting for Dark Heresy as well. Was hoping to be able to use Kroot as alternate character options for radical inquisitors and to maybe use gland warriors. I guess I will have to wait and see.
Ive done a fair bit of converting already to turn many of the RT careers into alternate career paths for DH starting at rank 3 (for Arch-Militant, Seneschal, Rogue Trader and Missionary), at rank 1 (for Void Master and Astropath) and as a background/world origin (Navigator).
I am still way more interesting in this book than I am in Deathwatch (though I have already found Deathwatch on ebay but not Into the Storm) and really wish they were already available.
@Lightbringer:
1) It's about 300 pages or so long, so slightly bigger than the Inquisitor's Handbook.
2) As for quality, personally? I'd say it's twice the book the Inquisitor's Handbook was.

I also own the Inqusitor's Handbook, and I personally think that Into the Storm is a superior supplement. However, that's to be expected for a book that's released later in the development cycle.
Thanks guys!
I always thought Inquisitor's Handbook was one of the best supplements for any RPG, just because there was so much of it, and because it was so eccentric and eclectic. I am now officially more excited about this than I am about many aspects of breathing.

One of the chapters I worked on - I'm particularly proud of the new Lineage row for the Origin Path, as that was all my idea.

The other chapter I worked on - as you probably all know, I wrote the Ork Freebooter rules - but I did a few of the Alternate Ranks (both Ork ones, and three of the others), and all the Elite Advances section as well.
I look forward to reading it...
By the way, I did the expanded acquisition rules, as well as the new endeavours and the social interaction rules. I'd be more than happy to field any questions you guys have.
Are there rarity values for hirelings?
Like how rare soldiers, spies and assassins would be should one wish to hire them.

Yep, full table for hiring people, including Astropaths, Navigators, and the like.

As a related question, does the quality of hireling include their equipment? Such as, a best-quality assassin having power weapons while a poor-quality assassin using primitive weapons?
