Two newbie questions

By stephen.bulla, in Talisman Rules Questions

Hello all, I've just purchased 4th edition having not played Talisman since the late 80s when it was a Games Workshop product. I'm glad to see that it seems faithful to the game I remember so well. My questions are:

1. How does evading work? Is it automatic? The rules don't seem to clarify.

2. If a monster defeats a character during a turn, does that character (assuming he/she survives) have to continue the battle the following turn or can he/she move onward to another space?

Thanks in advance!

No. Some spells or powers or effects allow you to "evade", i.e. avoid a fight with a monster. You "don't" Evade unless a spell or effect or power permits you to evade . Remember that to take the Objects / Followers on a space you must fight or evade . There are some effects that let you skip a fight but they must use the codeword "evade" - otherwise, no treasure.

Whether you lose or win the battle, next turn you have to reroll and move on.

Awesome thank you for clarifying... first game in 4 hours, looking forward to it! Am already considering picking up the two card expansions lol (Reaper and Frostmarch) cool.gif
