Killing Blow
Play after rolling the dice in a melee attack.
The hero chooses the results of that attack roll, placing those sides of the dice faceup, except that the hero cannot change the facing result of the red die.
If a Doge is played first, the Killing Blow may be played
after the reroll
and the Dodge is completely wasted.
However if a Dodge is played after a Killing Blow has been played (and resolved) then the Dodge gets to reroll the dice, negating the Killing Blow.
Actually what we had decided was that the RED dice gets to be rerolled only since the killing blow card states we cannot change that die. It ended up being an X in the overlords favor. In our situation the doge card would have never been played if we hadn't played the killing blow and the killing blow wasn't going to be played if the dodge card was being played. I think what we came up with was fair to all parties.

Red dice aside, if I understand your situation right, neither party really wanted to play their card first, but if either did, the other would.
Well, IMO that's up to them. Last to play gets the advantage. Neither party is being
forced
to play their card. In theory, they probably don't know that the other has that card (although the heroes may have seen the OL's Dodge previously through several effects).
But yes, since th red dice can;t be 'changed' the dodge always has a chance to change the result to a miss be it before or after Killing blow.
I guess the correct answer is actually that neither card ' negates ' the other (the way dodge and aim do) but both effects should be resolved in he apprpriate order.
In the end though, as long as you are happy with the result, that is what counts.
pg. 17 FAQ under Tomb of Ice Section
Q: Killing Blow: How does this work when the attack involves a reroll, such as an aim or dodge?
A: Killing Blow works on the first roll. A re-roll negates Killing Blow's effect.
Just thought I'd put the relevent FAQ entry in for interpretation.

My bad. I thought I did a word search for Killing blow but maybe I mistyped it and didn't notice or something.
Thanks.
