Liber Fanatica: What do you want? New scenarios or stat updates of old ones?

By Emirikol, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

We're working on scenario topics for Liber Fanatica #7. Liber Fanatica #7 is primarily for WFRP3. My plan is 2 scenarios and one side-trek set in the Reikland and containing notes on how to link directly to DLSS, Eye for an Eye, and The Gathering Storm.

I would like to get your opinions on three things:

* Is it worth our time to do another statistical update of an old scenario? For example: should we put our efforts towards a statistical update sheet for Rough Night at the Three Feathers or should we just focus on new scenarios?

* Would you like to see ONE 2-part scenario or TWO independent scenarios? Each scenario would be geared towards a night or two of play.

* We are probably going to do a Side Trek scenario. It would be the equivalent of the DEMO Day Late, Shilling Short. How much use do you usually get out of these? What do you like or dislike about Side Trek's.

Thanks,

Jay Hafner

I like side trek scenarios. I find them especially useful when they can be used as a travel event type of situation. I remember there was a fan made scenario where the PC's stumbled across a dying (dead?) witch-hunter on a drifting boat (can't remember the title) that was relatively short and could be used to "have something different happen" while the PC's were traveling near a major river. That sort of thing is useful for me.

As far as whether a two part or two one part scenarios would be better, I could honestly use either as I do not have almost any time to create my own scenarios these days. I suppose I may be more inclined to prefer two shorter scenarios taking roughly 2 sessions per if I were asked to make a choice.

Conversion of 2e scenario would be nice but, for me, is not a priority over newer fan made stories. Though I suppose it would provide a useful example on how to convert the older scenarios.

Considering that I will be purely a consumer of whatever you and others produce, I offer these comments humbly. Whatever is eventually put forward will be much appreciated and I thank you in advance for the time and effort you may be putting in to enhance my WFRP gaming.

If it's from a magazine I much prefer short 1 or 2 night games (and if it's a 2 night game give me two 1 night parts). They are great when you are having a moment of GM block because you need something to run and have drawn a blank. Plus with some subtle changes 1 shots can often be chained together into something more. Just having the villain get away and pop up again is often the only difference needed.

As for converting older stuff. I've actually been going through some older stuff and not really stumbling across anything that I couldn't convert on the fly. From the older stuff it's the stories and settings that I'm interested in. I don't need the stats conversion for NPC #1 w/great sword.

For LF7 I'd like to see all-new stuff, so I wouldn't be interested in a stat update for an older scenario. But for something like Rough Night, you could update it with plot trackers, location effect and other stuff that's new in V3, and that might be worthwhile.

I'd prefer to see one scenario with enough going on so that it can last for a couple of sessions of play. Side treks are great for me. I'd like an adventure that I can set nearly anywhere in the Empire, with a couple of loose ends (or greater implications) so that I can expand on it later, or just leave it when the main plot has resolved and then get back to whatever campaign I'm running.
