Any news from GENCON?

By Art Vandelay, in Tide of Iron

Is there any chance we here something about FOTB at GENCON?

Everyone is talking about how big the FFG booth is at GenCon, but not ONE mention of ToI!!!!

Been scouring the boards looking for any hint of ToI news....and nothing thus far.

Surprising? No. Disheartening? Yeah.

And if you look at FFG's front page and their own Indy coverage....not a single peep about ToI. Dust Tactics, Battle of Westeroos, but not a word about ToI.

It's just not looking good. Maybe the preorders for FotB were low and they decided to pull it? Nah, they'd never do that. Of course, they'd never tell us anything. That's the FFG marketing dept.

So did anyone go to Gen Con and ask about FOTB and get any news about it?

Maybe someone for once form FFG could shed some light on what is going on with FOTB

I never pre order games because of this same fact, you pre order but dont see anything for 6 months or so after the release date. So I just wait for it to come out

I have to say I'm really disappointed at this point. After two GenCons, and nearly four months after the official announcement, we're left with only a name and a box cover. Bummer.

Still, I'd rather be where we are now than having had the news that ToI is discontinued and dead. serio.gif

I agree. I can wait a liitle longer.

At the FFG info booth I saw the following:

Sample tank units in the A&A brown/Russian color. I'm not a history buff so I could not tell you which ones they were. They looked ok to me, but they were there with a couple of German tanks that looked like they came in the Normandy expansion. I'm not sure if that means there will be more of those or if it was there for comparison. Sorry, didn't take a picture because a few units did not interest me, I wanted the game.

From asking at the FFG info desk I was told the following:

1. There were some quality issues that caused the delay.

2. It is currently in the printing phase

3. It is at least 2 months away for completing printing and getting shipped into the states for distribution.

How hard is it to tell us these things... If not on their homepage, atleast here in the forums!

How does a quality problem prevent FFG from giving previews? I'm sure that they've got cards, masters, etc... that they could show. SOMETHING to show the ToI fans and buying public that ToI isn't just an afterthought. Throw us a freaking bone.

But nope. FFG just wants our $$$. They don't want to cultivate a customer base. 5 freaking minutes of PR. Throw a preview or three on the boards. Give the base a reason to wait. To anticipate the new release.

Nope.

Just give 'em the $$$ and move along. Certainly gives the impression that FFG doesn't care.

Why is everyone so obsessed about this, I still haven't bought Normandy. I just love creating new scenarios and playing the game. I still haven't run out of ideas for scenarios using TOI and DOTF. It will arrive when it arrives, everyone just chill!

You sound like a normal person, the rest of us are plasti-crack addicts, and the reason we are getting grumpy here is because we are all "jones'ing" for our next plasti-crack fix.

You know, we get the shakes, and twiches; and get all moody and what not. It's not a pretty sight, believe me. preocupado.gif
