Today's the big day! Who will be crowned champion? What deck will it be?
Any information would be great. Wish they were running a blog.

My prediction: Worlds will be won by a Hastur-heavy deck using Magah Birds, etc..
I also predict that describes more than half of the decks in the tournament.
I also predict no victory for me because I am not going to use Magah Birds (or other Hastur nastiness).
I liked my Magah birds. I needed them to place. Europe had different decks do well. I think Hastur is great. Once it wasn't. I liked H much less myself, thematically even. Always we complained about that faction or that deck or that broken combination. Then we argued between broken and overpowered, and overpowered and powerfull, and unfun building against, and wishing for a more creative deck to win it, or an MU deck to do well when they never did. It's all just part of the history of the game. I loved my AG/HA Regionals deck. I was not Edison nor Einstein when I built it. I had all your help. And I thank you for helping me learn my game all these years. Did it look similar to previous Hastur winning decks. Not too similar, I say. I made and anguished over it myself. It was definitely mine. If, today, this Hastur wins again, which is quite possible, maybe likely, we will perhaps prove ourselves right. But the champion won't be thinking that, because he himself legitimately won it all. Why am I not there?!
Quick update:
1. Title defense was a success!
2. 16 players.
3. All of the Top 4 were playing Hatsur/Agency.
4. 3 of the top 4 were featuring interrogation center, I was the only one in the top 4 that had alaskan sledge dogs.
5. Hatsur/Agency featuring Magah Birds, The Seventy Steps, and Endless Interrogation were featured in so many decks it was gross. I think only 3-5 decks weren't some form of Hatsur/Agency combo.
I'll give more of an update, possibly a tournament report after I get back home (or if I find some time between now and then) if others don't beat me to it of course.
Till then...
Tom pretty much summed it up.
Bit congrats to the 2 time champ.
His only loss was against Hastur/Agency with Interrogation Chamber and he had to play the exact same deck twice in the final 4. To put that epic even into perspective, his deck contained: Rats, Dogs, Descendants, and Guardian Pillar. He played a full-rush version with less control and more quick critters. Tom's day hinged on Arsonist and he drew it when it mattered. I'll defer to him to give you decklists and reports.
2nd and 3rd were playing the exact same deck. Hastur/Agency, no steps, Birds, Interrogation Chamber, removal, Descendants, Rats
I placed 4th with Hastur/Agency - Birds, Steps, Interrogation Chamber and a ton of removal. Interestingly enough, I think I played too much removal. I'll post a decklist later on and maybe a tournament summary. I suck at details, so a report would not do many players justice.

Congrats Magnus.
But in all fairness, you didn't have to rematch vs. me. I got a new job
, but had to work.

Why did they do the world tournament on Friday this year? Saturday should give the most players.
And since I couldn't play, I should save myself $300 in cards. Maybe next year though..
P.S. He got the Alaskan Sledge Dog idea from me last year
He was probaly playing almost the same deck.
Saturday = Warhammer
Though I honestly do not see any crossover players, I'm sure they could have run both worlds simultaneous.
I forgot to mention Tom was also running some Zoogs. Neutral, neutral, neutral against Interrogation Chamber + control. Uphill battle all the way, and I'm sure he took a brain break last night.
The one thing that was awesome to me about the people who play this game is how welcoming they are. At least half of the field seemed to be a pretty tight group of friends who have been at it for years. I walked in, having never played a competitive event ever, an was instantly accepted. No one felt my thoughts and ideas were lame because I hadn't "proven" myself. Having played competitively in the past, I can honestly say I've never experienced a group of players more inviting. Awesome time. I will be back.

Congratulations Magnus Arcanus.
Return Champ, running Zoog Dogs.
Very interesting, the outcome. What does FFG think today waking up from a flood of repetition, a glut of Agency / Hastur and the Seventy Endless Magah Birds. How would you deal with it, cultists.
So glad to hear Random Cheevee tell the cthulhu scene like it is. I had the same experience.
If everyone is running off the same clutch of cards, the champion distinguishes himself all the more.
James, currently the designer for future cards, is fully aware of the problems and has been taking notes all weekend. I think we will see some changes going forward, and I really hope it is for the better.
Also, Tom won the Conspiracy tournament today. He's going for the individual sweep with the HIghlander event tomorrow, so good luck to him!
There were 4 of us in Conspiracy.
#1 - Tom played the same deck. Brutal, brutal speed.
#2 - I played Agency/Syndicate. basically my deck is fast characters with investigation, Beneath the Burning Sun, Pistols, Interrogation Chamber and random damage/exhaust control. It's been my favorite deck to play for a long time, but it is way too slow for Tom's deck. It has answers for too many things and doesn't focus on much.
#3 - Kip played Mi-Go/Things in the Ground. Fun deck, I had to play him first. He was running Arkham Asylum + Things in the Ground and Blackmoore Estate. Peeler + Pistol was just too dangerous against it and Repo Man gave me his stuff.
#4 - Jim playing mono Cthulhu. We didn't play our game as it did not effect the outcome. I saw Serpents and stuff, generally a Cthulhu removal with low-cost characters.
that's it for now.

To finish off the list of events, Tom won the Highlander tournament in a fierce battle with me, where a top decked Shotgun and a character (can't remember which one) gave him the final story.
Order of finish:
1. Tom Capor: Agency/Syndicate? (it was a late Satturday night and the details of Sunday are fuzzy)
2. Jim Black: Cthulhu/Shub
3. John Monnet: Yog/MU
4. Grey Enders(hope I spelled that right): Syndicate/?
It was great to see old familiar faces and to meet some new ones.
I look forward to even more players at next year's Worlds!
I believe he was running Agency/Yog. I don't remember honestly though. I wanted to stay for the duration, but running on no sleep with 6.5 hours in the car to follow is not easy. I had to make it home before nightfall, else I encounter the Yellow Sign.
Meeting everybody certainly was awesome. There is a real great group of core players and that makes the whole thing more fun. I hope to push this game on every person I can find so we can have a better showing at Worlds. It's my understanding that Worlds have been slightly larger over the past 3, so let's keep the trend in motion!

While Pat & I are new to CoC, we both could not believe how great the guys were. As in a previous post, a very accepting group. The highlight for me was decking Tom in a pick up game. I played polar & used shocking transformation to bring in a G-Man. Both Tom and Jim were very generous to the new players.
It really felt as if it was all about the play & fun rather than the winning.
During my second match in Highlander, Jim played "himself." No doubt a great card, but it was funny when he said, "now I will play myself!" He even signed my Jim cards for me.
Playing CoC was one of the highlights this years at gencon.
"Give, expecting nothing thereof." (St. Thomas Aquinas, based on Luke 6:35: "do good and lend expecting nothing in return, for your reward will be great")

Next year, why don't FFG propose the worlds to be handled in Europe ???
Well, french nationals always reached at least 16 to 20 players and Stahleck also hosted a bunch of players...
More quick updates!!!!
1. Thank you all!
2. Yes, my highlander deck was Angecy/Yog. Side note* In that game you were talking about the top deck, it was shot gun and Small Price to Pay, but the shot gun when on steve clarney which was just evil.

Kellen brought up a quick conversation about who was the favorite to win this year. My pick was you man, as if nothing else, you were due.
Funny thing, I thought I saw you like 7 different times and I was wrong each and every time so until right before the tournament several people thought you were going to be there.

Riiiiight... I didn't get the dog idea from you, but you most certainly affirmed my belief that they needed to be in the deck. As for my deck, I expect many many people to be suprised if not confused by my decklist. Aside from birds, endless intorregation and the seventy steps, dogs, and other general angency, hatsur, and neutral staples of course.
4. Grey, it was awesome meeting you and pat. Got to admit I was a little embarrassed that I decked myself. Guess thats what I get for only using cards that weren't in other decks lol.
5. Chevee, you da man. Still love the hat. And I hope us near-pittsburghers can meet up at some point before next gencon.
6. Completeing the hat trick of worlds, conspiracy, and highlander tournament wins certainly made my year. Met some old and new friends and some had some really exciting and fun games (and a few brain busting ones... **** you interrogation center). As soon as I get my expected email of the final standings I'll finish up my report and any of you guys want anything to be or not to be mentioned in it now would be the time to tell me.
7. Can't wait until next year...
Tom: How about a nod to the Professor for TRYING without Hastur or Agency! I did get 2 wins before hitting the Yellow-Blue Wall at the top tables!
It was a great time - lots of friendly, competitive, engaging people. I enjoy my time at Worlds, just getting to catch up, talk strategy, and having a pleasant convention experience.
I'm already looking forward to next year (and with a new meta-game).
Congrats, Tom. Good show, keeping it in PA.

Thanks Chris, I do what a I can. Good to hear from you.
There is an awesome picture of cannon accepting his 2006 championship trophy. Magnus Arcanus is interviewed in the FFG gencon day four video. Is there a shot of the 2010 trophy?
