Can anybody please tell me how do I do horror and combat checks for this monster? I don't get the "-" thing. I've been looking everywhere with no success.

A dash means there is no check. This particular monster's only purpose is to make you pass a Luck check or be devoured.

Thanks for the reply. It's what I thought originally. My confusion was due the fact that the card reads "before horror check" I then wonder why did they include the horror check thing if no horror check needs to be done.

A simple "instead of a horror check" would have been less confusing, but I suppose it would have created problems in case there are effects or cards that say "when doing a horror check" and such.
