Single Set Chaos

By qwertyuiop, in Warhammer Invasion Deck Building

Hello. I figure it's time I posted a deck. It's untested, and probably weak. Tear it apart, give pointers, or love on it. Feedback appreciated. Also, I'm not using Contested Villages. It's crazy, I know. My resource engine probably sucks. I'm using units to pick up the slack.

23 Units.

There it is.

Savage Gors were my favorite Chaos units. Just curious why you wouldn't include them.

I don't feel like being forced to develop a zone to get extra offense in this particular deck. Taking advantage of corruption may be enough now that Effulgent Boils is out. It makes Spreading Darkness playable. Besides, I've never really played with the Braying Gors and I want to see if their ability ever really comes in handy, especially in a deck with a few expensive units.

(edit) As a side note, I'd really like to see a Cost 3 Loyalty 2-3 tactic that corrupts two units in the same zone demonio.gif

For that cost it should corrupt every unit in a target zone.

Well, I finally got to play a game with this deck. Against it, actually. It hit the ground running. It lost by a turn to dwarves. And it took some heavy dwarven support cards for them not to win. Word.

Unless you have an allergy to Skaven, Clan Moulder's Elite is amazing even if it isn't getting boosts from Braying Gor. I know you only get one in Single Set but you can still play one.

Blue Horrors? Really? I've got to think you can do a lot better than that. Like Contested Village, for example. lengua.gif But I feel like you are building to a theme for fun, not to make the best deck possible, so I'll shut up now.

Oh, there's plenty better than Blue Horrors. Clan Moulder's Elite is definitely one of them. Blue Horrors are cheap and disposable. The two loyalty is a drawback on turn 1. It was really a coin toss between them and Savage Marauders. However, in a single set tournament, Contested Village would beat them both out.

Why are you using the alliance cards in there? I can't see any Dark Elf cards in your deck.

Chaos often ends up running random alliances just to get some more loyalty icons on supports. The only 2-cost Chaos hammer support is the Shrine (which badly needs un-nerfing at this point).

Ah I see. Hmm odd.
The shrine was nerfed? (I really need to check the faq...)

Yeah, a long time ago. Originally, it corrupted any of your opponent's units that took damage during combat (as per the card) - which meant that when you threw down something like Nurgle's Pestilence, it corrupted all their guys in one go. You could also lock them out of ever attacking via Nurgle's Sorceror. Back in the old days of just the Core Set, that was actually pretty good.

The nerfed wording corrupts only on actual combat damage, which means it virtually never triggers.

It really NEVER triggers, too. But, it definitely reinforces the logical damage/defense flow. Knowledge is flour, so I've heard, and I am ready to make one hell of a biscuit.

Sheesh Oo; a corruption deck is even less good than I assumed.
I think i'm going to wait for some more cards to come out for my Dark Elves and Chaos before I continue playing as atm to be honest I feel the cardpool really needs a serious boost to make quite a few deckstyles playable and effective.

What do you really want corruption to provide? I can understand why it isn't really winning any tournaments right now, but it's playable. Really all Chaos needs is one or two cards to become contenders. But maybe I just love them too much :P
