Can you use Hate to grab any resource, including resources on units questing, or cards that come into play with resources on them?

Is there a reason why, seems like it should be used to grab any resource, it doesn't specify which resource on the card Hate?

In the wording of Hate, you take resources from an opponent, not a card.

Every card that gains counters uses resource tokens since it could easily get confusing if damage tokens were used. I don't think they area actually counting as resources.
