Raiding Fleet deck

By lahomen, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

Here is a deck I am working on. I only get a chance to play a few times a month, so I haven't had a chance to test it yet. The goal is to flop a lot to get the Raiding Fleet out on the first turn if possible. Then, proceed to deck your opponent while slowing them down as much as possible. Some saves so the Fleet can survive Valar.

Any suggestions would be welcome. Has anyone had success with Drowned Disciple? He seems overcosted for his effect, and Godswood Attendant seems like a better choice. Damphair dies frequently to grab Godswood Attendant and Drowned Fanatic.

Plots:
Song of Summer
Take Them by Surprise
Valar Morgulis
Winter Festival
Desolate Passage
Rise of the Kraken
Rule by Decree

Locations (25):
Street of Steel
Street of Sisters
Bloody Keep x3
Gatehouse x3
Kingdom of Shadows x2
Sunset Sea x3
Fishmonger's Sq x3
Iron Mines x3
Aeron's Chambers
Bay of Ice x2
Frostfang Peaks x3

Chars (31):
I. Refugee x3

Distinguished Boatswain x3
Seaside Urchin x3
Stowaway x3
Maester Wendamyr
Theon Greyjoy
Wex Pyke
Aeron Damphair x3

Drowned Fanatic x3

I agree with your assessment on drowned disciple. He's just too fragile for his cost. Attendant is good and I like the fanatic for a raiding deck. Looks like Fishmonger's Square is your main draw source backed up by Bay of Ice. Is that right? If so, I see why you have ruled by decree in there to help offset the fact you will likely be outdrawn by most opponents. You seem to have a theme of trying to win intiative as much as possible as well, and you need the gold to get your Raiding Fleet out there. Have you considered swapping out Desolate Passage for Fury of the Kraken? That would net you higher gold plus higher initiative with the added bonus of a chance to trigger its effect against the appropriate houses.

I would also try to squeeze some Risen from the Sea events in there, if possible. The Kraken Tattoo is good if you are wanting to focus on intimidation, but with only one in the deck, it isn't likely to make an appearance in most games. It would trigger often if you did manage to play it though, considering all the raiding you'd be doing. You stated you want to slow down your opponent long enough to get the Kraken rolling...have you considered Fishing Nets for that purpose? I've found them to be a nice control card for Greyjoy against all but the Targaryens (who can get rid of them too easily to make them effective).

Last thing; if not for the fact you seem to be trying to squeeze gold and initiative out of your plots, I'd try to squeeze a Power of Arms in there, for the two claim, and to power your war crested characters. I'd probably swap Winter Festival for it if I had to pick one from your list to swap it with.

That's all I have for now. Hope you have fun with the deck and hope I've at least given you some things to consider if you haven't already ruled them out when putting your deck together.

Fishing nets are a great idea, and I'm thinking a Pulled Under or two might be good. You're right about bringing me back to part of my deck's focus: delaying my opponent's win until I can deck them. I'm going to add a Longship Iron Victory for more draw... what else can I do to draw?

Pulled under has a good effect, but the cost is prohibitive (at least in my mind). I think you will be needing all the gold you can get as is to marshal your Raiding Fleets.

For draw, there is always the old standby of Samwell and his birds. Of course, that would mean you'd have to make some changes in your character roster (I'd probably toss stowaways to make room for Sammy and his birds). I like the addition of Longship Iron Victory. Helps to win challenges, powers your intimidation, and helps with the draw.

It looks like Motley Crewman could fit in the deck some where nicely.

Easily, once he comes out.

I would simply ask Jones if you get the chance.

He ran a raiding deck in the 2v2 tournament at GenCon. And might I just add, it was annoying as **** to play against. 2v2 is the perfect format for a raiding deck right now. Someone to bash on your opponents while you casually just keep stripping cards from their deck.

By the end of the game, we most definitely were almost out of cards.
