So, I am in the Pasadena, California area, and Mutant Chronicles is NOT doing well AT ALL.
Now for me, I totally love the game; me and my fiance play almost every day at least once and I have been a fan of Mutant Chronicles for years.
I went Christmas shopping a few days ago, and guess what!? All the Mutant Chronicles Warpacks were $5.99 and the Starters were $10.99 at my local game store; to be honest, I BOUGHT ALMOST EVERYTHING.
From what the store owner told me, the game was blown away by the Monsterpocalypse game, and when I showed up that night, it was FULL of folks playing that game. The store owner also told me that Mutant Chronicles only got him 1 starter sold since it's release and has not bought anything else because of that. I hadn't been to that store in months, and I left when the game was being demo'd by the FFG guys ( Lucas, here's a shout out! ).
The store owner told me that until the game can get picked up, he will not buy anything MC; he even asked me to get my fiance in the store and play as to get folks interested, but from the looks of it, the Monsterpocalypse game is owning, and ALWAYS selling out.
What needs to happen to save this game? I already know that no one in my area plays this game, except for me and my fiance; my gaming friends won;t even play this game... ...when I say SAVE I don't mean the game is dying, because it's not. It looks like it is doing rather well in certain areas, but to walk in and see the Warpacks at $5.99, like, WHOA.
I bought his last four Starters ( he only had purchased 5 ), I bought 2 Nepharite Overlords Warpacks, 2 Gommorian Hammer Warpacks, 1 Warmaster's Legion Warpack, 2 Dark Wager Warpacks, 3 Advanced Recon Warpacks, 1 13th Banshee Division Warpack, 3 Striker Division Warpacks and 3 Fury's Wrath Warpack.
Now seriously, I am kind of happy to have payed so little for everything, but kind of sad that its doing so horribly in that store and in my area.
The points to sell the game are: it's cheap, for the price of some heroclix single figures you can get a warpack; it's easy to learn, but at the same time the game is really complex; you can create your force in a few minutes and play a game very quickly, not like in WH40K, where those things can take you a whole day; lots of armies to choose, and the chance to combine almost all of them; and constant releases for all armies, so you can expand it little by little, which is more affordable, instead of waiting for months and then get an avalanche of new products.
