Duplicate skills question.

By Lucrosium Malice, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

During character creation it is possible to acquire the same skill twice.

For example, if you take the Noble background (Inquisitors Handbook) and Guardsman class. Both will give you Speak Language (Low Gothic).

I was trying to remember if there was a rule that stated if you received a skill twice, that skill became talented. Is that correct?

I'm probably wrong here but then again Im running an old Black Industries main rule book and didn't see anything in the errata so . . .

Not in Dark Heresy per say. This idea comes from The Rogue Trader character creation process, where you could get skill +10 for skill duplicates and Talented for talent duplicates. Do note that RT characters are meant to be a little advanced to begin with.

This isn't to say the GM could allow this, but the RT homeworlds seems to factor this in by giving more untrained basic skills than trained skills than the DH counterparts. That, and a +10 bonus for starting DH characters is powerful.

Well at least I know now that Im not crazy and that I had read that somewhere, to bad it wasn't DH.
