Cthulhu ROCKS!!!

By player1788711, in CoC General Discussion

Hey guys just wanted to say hi to all and let everyone know if you have not given it a shot you should. I have played that other less good game with the 5 colors for several years and the time and money that it was taking to buy the 3 to 4 boxes of the 3 to 4 sets that come out every year was just pissing me off. I tried COC LCG and fell in love it is all about balanced game play and is not just trying to pump out cards as fast as possible. Anyway just wanted to get that out there.

Welcome to the club.

It is a great game and I think very unique in its gameplay. My only problem is trying to cultivate more people to play with.

That's the problem with any card game I've ever played.

My girlfriend and I just started yesterday and we were lucky enough to find a very successful hobby gaming shop about thirty minutes away that features free play every Wednesday. The managers say it's always a big turn-out, so we're looking forward to getting involved.

Though, at the moment, we're feeling pretty overwhelmed. I guess that's to be expected with any new game, though. Loving it so far!

Agreed. I love to play but have so few opportunities to do so. Thankfully, earlier this year my local game shop started a Fantasy Flight Games night once a month so if I'm lucky I'll find someone who is willing to learn if they don't already know how to play.

Also, if you enjoy the cards themselves as much as you do playing with them, The Art of H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos is worth hunting up.

Yes, Cthulhu does "rock"...

...and the card game isn't bad either ha ha.

I think the biggest thing that sets Call of Cthulhu apart is the stories. They are the only way to win the game, and the only way to score them is by winning tokens faster than your opponent. As such, you cannot be cautious and expect to win, as the game's core mechanic depends on aggressive tactics. This really fits well with the setting, as when it comes to Lovecraftian horror, sometimes certain death is the preferable option, given its alternatives.
