Anyone have a decent HE deck?

By Redeemer31, in Warhammer Invasion Deck Building

However the stipulation is that you (actually, more like "I") only have access to the core set, expansion and one of each of the battle packs (so no 3x Bolt Throwers and what not).

The reason why I ask if anyone has a deck they can share is because I am trying to entice my wife to play more. However she has a lot going on so she doesn't really have time to fiddle around with building decks. So my hope is that I could construct a deck for her to use. However I'm fairly new at this myself so I don't really know how to build a great deck. It is my hope that when we play, she'll have a deck that's pretty good and if she has fun and wins, she may be more inclined to play more. And then maybe, just maybe, she'll start to tinker around with the cards and construct her own deck.

Oh and the reason why I ask for High Elves specifically is because... well, she likes elves. :) I realize that High Elves is not the strongest race out there but she likes elves and will probably want to only play them.

Thanks in advance!

No.

(fyi: I only read the subject).

Even in Single Set, HE are pretty bad. The units are just not there - there's a few decent ones like the Envoy, Illyriel and the Swordmasters, but there is no depth. That said, for casual play, you can throw together a HE/Dwarf that's at least capable of winning games occasionally, but it won't be at a competitive level. Something like this :

2 Dragon Mage Wakening
3 Innovation
3 Warpstone Excavation
3 Charge of the Silver Helms
3 Contested Village
3 Envoy from Averlorn
1 Lure Them Out
1 Blessing of Valaya
1 Defend Tor Aendris
1 Demolition!
1 Dwarf Cannon Crew
1 Dwarf/Empire Alliance
1 Dwarf/High Elf Alliance
1 Empire/High Elf Alliance
2 Keystone Forge
1 Master Rune of Valaya
3 Mining Tunnels
3 Shadow Warrior
2 Slayers of Karak Kadrin
3 High Elf Spearmen
1 Silver Helm Detachment
1 Zealot Hunter
1 Caradryan
1 Illyriel
1 Judgement of Verena
1 Longbeards
1 Mountain Brigade
3 Sword Masters of Hoeth
1 Dragonmage

Assuming no Bolt Thrower - and you are right that High Elf isn't exactly the most competitive faction otherwise - I suggest the following list.

I built one like this recently (but not limited to less than 3 of any card) and plan on playing it a bit in the gencon league, in which I'll play a bunch of decks, at least one from each faction is my goal.

Quests (1) :

Defend Tor Aendris - 1

Supports (19) :

Blessing of Isha - 1

Dragon Mage Wakening - 2

Temple of Vaul - 1

Contested Village - 3

Contested Stronghold - 2

Dwarf/High Elf Alliance - 1

Dwarf/Empire Alliance - 1

Warpstone Excavation - 3

Abandoned Mine - 1

Hellblaster Volley Gun - 2

Mining Tunnels - 2

Tactics (16) :

Gifts of Aenarion - 1

Morvael's Legacy - 1

Charge of the Silver Helms - 3

Asuryan's Cleansing - 1

High Elf's Disdain - 2

Innovation - 3

Burn It Down - 1

Master Rune of Valaya - 1

Demolition - 1

Wake the Mountain - 1

Long Winter - 1

Units (24) :

Silver Helm Brigade - 1

Dragonmage - 1

Ellyrian Reavers - 3

Envoy from Averlon - 3

Shadow Warrior - 3

Swordmasters of Hoeth - 3

Cardryan - 1

Initiate of Saphery - 1

Loremaster of Hoeth - 3

Illyriel - 1

Zealot Hunter - 1

Errant Wolf - 1

Troll Slayers - 2

Total Cards - 60

Some comments:

To make up for High Elf's lack of firepower I've incorporated Troll Slayers/Hellblaster Volley Gun to get power/damage into the battlefield. This seemed to go well with the High Elf's unit Ell Reavers that plop an extra development into the battlefield.

It's a 60 card deck but there is a lot of draw here - Mining Tunnels, Errant Wolf, Cardryan, Envoy. Of course you could trim it down if you want.

Be sure to use Charge of the Silver Helms both as a damaging tool when played on your units in the battlefield and as a resource generate if used on units in the kingdom/quest. For example, first turn Loremaster for 2 and the Charge for 1 at the start of the next turn is 4 power, i.e. 7 resources, (not including any exca's or innovations) in the Kingdom zone turn 2.

Anyways, hope this helps! I'm sure High Elf will become even better in the sets/packs to come.

completely random question...

Clamatius, how are you posting single spaced!?? It's apparent I'm not the only one posting all my decklists double spaced.

SHIFT + Enter makes you single space.

ctrl-c, ctrl-v also makes you post single spaced. I have all my decklists on disk or deckbox, I don't type them into the wacky editor on the forums.

60 cards?! Is everyone in your group/area playing 60 card? The Elves might have a chance in that format. If not, you just gotta find ways to whittle the cards down and give the deck a GREAT resource engine. Treasure Vaults with your Contested Strongholds. You could consider Dburg Forge, too. I'm not sold on Disdain. It just seems too expensive. You could try subbing Iron Discipline for it. Elves are generally pricey for what you get. Plan ahead.

Thanks, I appreciate it. It gives me a start. I've been reading that High Elves have been generally weak but if we're doing casual play, hopefully she'll have fun with the deck.

Thanks again!
