Councilor chars from A Reign of Kings

By Ikaros, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi.

I have two questions about the "Councilor" set of characters from the "A Reign of King" expansion. Any of them has two distinct abilities with the same mechanic.

Let's take for example "Lannister Councilor", which states:

Any phase: kneel 2 influence to choose and kneel a character without attachments. Any player may trigger this ability.

Response: after another player triggers Lannister Councilor's ability, claim 1 power for your House.

The first question is about 2 vs 2 games. Because it is always written "any/another player" instead of "any/another opponent", can my partner kneel 2 influence to kneel a char, and then can I gain a power? It would be a huge advantage, clearly not intended when this card was printed, because 2 vs 2 games did not exist at the time. There is something like an errata or guide for 2 vs 2 games?

The second question is about canceling.

Councilor is controlled by Player A.
Player B trigger the "Any Phase" ability.
Player C cancel the ability.

Can Player A trigger the response, now? Generally, is an effect considered triggered even if it's canceled?

Thank you.

These cards pre-date the 2 vs 2 format by over 3 years. They were never really intended for use in 2 vs 2 games. It's not like anyone went back and considered all the CCG cards for the 2 vs 2 format - or is likely to. There is no special errata. Play it however you wish.

Yes. It is considered triggered, but not successfully resolved.

Thank you as always. I thought there was something like "Legacy" or "Vintage" tournaments.

The official Legacy format is "Highlander" (one copy of any card by title in the deck). There is a Legacy FAQ for individual card errata on CCG cards, but no one has ever done extensive testing or development for the rule variations like 2vs2 or Civil War with the Legacy cardpool. Considering how few people play it at any sort of competitive level, I doubt FFG has much incentive to do so.
