Very interesting mechanic, though having all the discards go to the city might not appeal to many players; they typically would rather have the card lying on the board to go after for free.
I am wondering how this "space" is placed in relation to the City space.
The City space goes in the blank white square. Players may move here when they land on the city space, instead of the city space.
Items discarded on spaces do not go to the City Backstreets only items discarded to the discard pile (lost in otherwords)
Ah, I see. I misread the second part and now it makes more sense. I'm wondering though about certain mechanics in the game. Certain fan expansion at least allow taking objects out of certain counts of the discard pile, a mechanic that suspect may now pop up in the coming Sacred Pool "quest" rewards cards. Just a guest from looking at some of the wording on the half hidden reward card in the last SP new item. You might try to think of some way to balance out how / whether cards go the backstreet or stay in the discard pile. Beyond that, the backstreet looks pretty interesting.
I see, ok. Maybe one item at a time then.
Or a newer item thats discarded replaces the one stacked there. So then players have to race to get it... If its any good.
Good idea. My develpoment of it:

Yeah, something like that would work. You could even go with only 1 Object, 1 Magic Object, and 1 Follower at the time.... but maybe that's too much inventorying and too fussy.
I do like the die roll, as its uncertain whether you'll get a bargain or not (if I'm reading that part right). But I think that one turn in the Backstreet should be all that one gets and then you have to move on by a normal roll. Just seems fairer.
Another way (and you can tell me to shut up if you've heard enough alternatives) might be to roll the die and that's how much you have to spend to access the discard pile. It could be to take the top card, or look through 5 or 10 cards and take one Object, Magic Object... maybe even a follower?
