I haven't been able to play Thrones much in the past 2+ years, but I have been missing it more and more. I was just gonna sign up for the League event and finally get some games in. I decided to play in the melee championships because I really haven't had the chance to play in that format and it really looks fun. I have played a handful of 3 player games with the LCG multiplayer rules, but these were demoing the game for other people using my own cards. I have a couple of questions and concerns regarding the melee championships.
Since I don't have much experience with the LCG cards and also really rusty with the game itself, I am worried that I might slow the game down for the other players. The description of the event indicates very little experience required, but I would feel bad if I am the only guy asking/reading what most of the cards do. I just want to make sure it's fine to show up and kinda play by the seat of my pants.
I have over 15 unopened packs of cards to go through, and no idea what house I am gonna play. Hopefully I can get something functional together by Thursday. Are there any particular chapter packs with some of the stronger cards in them, that I should make sure I pay close attention to?
I am probably still gonna play in the league event and if I am really having fun I might even decide to get totally thrashed in the joust champs(could be a good crash course on the game). Hopefully I can recruit a few people in town to play, maybe if "something were to happen" to their Magic cards. =)
I wish I knew I was going to be able to make GenCon way sooner. There are so many other FFG events I wanted to play in also but they are sold out. I own most of the Dark Heresy and RT books but still have yet to get a chance to play either. Also wanted to try the new Warhammer Fantasy and many of the new board games. But, of course, all the cool games get taken quick at GenCon. You guys should see if you can get some of the left-over Stimulus money from the government to hire more people for GenCon.
I know you guys bring a small army with you but it's just not enough.
Looking forward to seeing all the AGoTers there!
