How should I paint them?

By Facepalm2, in Battlelore

I know it is ultimately up to me when it comes comes to painting my 200+ figs, but I would like to know how some of how went about painting them and what you prefer.

For the humans there are 2 choices;

-Pant them according to rank (red figs red etc.) This would be good in case I need to switch banners or...

-Paint them according to English and French, Franch mainly blue and English mainly red, this would add more theme and uniformity to the units

I guess what I am asking is the following...

1) What do all of you prefer?

2) How many scenarios would require switching banners, would it restrict play a lot if painted army colors, is there ways to go around these restrictions?

3) Are dwarf on the british side ever, are the goblings ever with the french? (I will probably paint these 'mercenary' races according to banner color so they look less regimented with the human forces)

Soryy if this has come up before,

Thanks

I did by rank (Green, Blue, Red) then by team. So had white highlights on one (can't remember offhand which was which, and Yellow highlights on the other) It is a subtle differnce, but I like it. Only thing I would have done differently is choose a darker color of Red/Blue/Green than I chose. I do like the fact my colors match directly to a color on the banner though, especially since I paint the outline of the flag.

I would advice against painting based on english or french side for one simple reason. If you plan to invest in expansions, you'll need to buy two of each; one for the french side and one for the english. I personnally chose to paint according to the game art as much as possible. After all, the banners are there to indicate rank...

I do plan on getting the expansions, but if I were to paint them according to French and English, wouldn't I only need 2 copies of Hundred years war and Scottish wars (for the knight), and possibly the base game. I thought they were the only ones with humans.

I just bought Call to Arms and Scotish was a couple days ago, and the store has most of the other expansions, excecpt for Hundred Years war, is that expansion really as hard to find as I have heard?

I am sort of wanting to paint them based on the army, but I will hold back from painting them for a while, I may change my mind if it becomes to expensive to invest in all of them. I will first try to get one copy of each before getting a second of any of them.
