Alternative Troops miniatures

By Daysman, in Tannhauser

The game "Field Ops" gave me ideas for TH miniatures.

First, the Commando Hurricane Alpha :

I made it with the Easy Company Medic from Heroclix + Ork jet pack from WH40K

Experimental rules : Equipped with an airborne manned maneuvering unit (AMMU), Hurricane Alpha can jump four circles in one movment, and so can avoid duels. AMMU can only be used three times (because limited fuel) during the game .

Then, my next custom will be the Frankenstahl Korps with a miniature from "Incursion The Game" :

I have no experimental rules for the moment, but it will be probably a flame-thrower

Wow. That Frankenstahl Korps is SWEET! BTW I think there are several AT-43 minis that could pass as the first figure in your post.

You are right. these "wing troopers" are very cool and look like Hurricanes. I didn't know. For future customs ;)

This confirms it. FFG staff does read out posts in the Tannhauser section.

I use those for my Union Rocketeer troops. Their special is a rocket pack (obviously). The rocket pack allows troops to get to a point quickedr than troops on foot and be at the battle for better postion before it begins.

Before set-up place a rocketeer troop up to 10 spaces from your entrance.

Oncer per game in a out door map (Novgorod for example) you may place a rocketeer unit any where on the map on a free legal space.

The only problem you may have with the Frankenstahl is that the base won't fit the circles on the map.

That's a feature, not a bug! gran_risa.gif

I thought about that with a couple of not-so-minis I'd like to bring over to Tannhauser...

I was planning on using the leading edge to determine the path for movement. If they changed direction, that edge would be the leading edge ~ i.e. it could give them a jump of a spot or two, not out of line with them being outsized.

As for obstacles, if the base doesn't fit through doorways, they don't get through. This severely limits their movement in the castle (possibly preventing it outright, or maybe forcing them to use the front door instead of the back stair), and restricts it to some degree on the outdoor maps.

In both cases, their stats would reflect their outsized nature, so they might not be so bad just sitting in a limited spot, guarding some objective.
