Hope you guys can get hold of a copy. It'll be good to be able to chat with other people with the book lengua.gif

I hate you sometimes. happy.gif Here I sit, patiently waiting for arrival.

-=Brother Praetus=-

Which is why I'm offering to answer any/all question people have about it happy.gif I'm being nice and useful whilst bouncing up and down with it in my hands! partido_risa.gif

What was most different between DH and RT was the character creation process. What are the DW-specific steps? And which roles do chapters play?

And I certainly appreciate that. I'd rather discuss the contents in an informed manner, however.

The only thing I really want to know is if whether or not they have the Stalker -pattern boltgun detailed in there. That would just be a pleasantness akin to a nice hot bowl of cream of potato soup. Or a Guinness . And a steak... Let's have a steak, some potato soup and a Guinness . I should go hit up my favorite pub for some lunch, me thinks.

Wait, now I'm rambling.

I can actually refer you directly to a post I made on Dark Reign about that:

Linky

@Brother Praetus: Yep, it's in there. You have to have a Renown rank of "Respected" (one up from the one you start with) to be deemed worthy enough to requisition it, however.

Awesome. I can now work out the character I've been envisioning for sometime; though will need to actually work towards things some, which is fine. And I get the added bonus of telling a buddy of mine "ha," to his face tonight. happy.gif Thank to both FFG and you MILL for allowing my limited form of pettiness an outlet. Life is good.

Sounds good, very good indeed.

Is there anything you can say about background stuff though? Like an Origin Path? A Divination? A Career Memento? Something like that?

Nope, no Origin Path for Deathwatch. There are a selection of sample "Pasts" for each Chapter, giving ideas for what your character did before he joined the Deathwatch, but there is nothing that involves stat changing from it, just ideas for backstories. Everyone does get a "Chapter Trapping" though, which is an icon, tabard, ceremonial sword, or something like that, which the character brings with them from their Chapter, and these all have varying bonuses (like a Space Wolf character's Wolf Pelt would add to Intimidate tests, because it shows him to be a mighty warrior, or a Blood Angel's "Blood Drop Pendant" (an ornament that's the representation of the Chapter's symbol and the blood of Sanguinius) would give them a bonus to the dice-roll modifier a spent Fate Point gives).

I asked the people from Lesure Games if they have a date and they said six weeks.

Yep, that sounds about right. End of August/Beginning of September.

I just heard from my Brother-in-:Law. He was able to get me a copy of Deathwatch at Gencon! SCORE!

Cool happy.gif I need more people with the book to start posting so we can discuss it all lengua.gif

What are the stats on terminator armour? And do the have their own selection of weapons? Assault cannons, heavy flamers etc....

Terminator Armour is... well, hard lengua.gif 14AP all over, and adds +30 to Strength (+10 more than power armour), and gives you the equivalent of a force field to represent it's toughness also.

And yep, it has a selection of weapons. Assault Cannons, Heavy Flamers (though these can be carried by normal Marines too), Cyclone Missile Launchers, all that jazz. Only certain weapons are capable of being modified to work with Terminator Armour though (some through the linkages that connect it to the armour, others through just being too small for the hands of the armour to operate, so there are a fixed list of Terminator capable weapons.

When Terminator armour gets damaged, do you get to hit the eject button and come screaming out of the armour on your bat-cycle... errr, I mean light power armour.

Wha?

Do have GS better stats than in FS? Because otherwise, it'll be GS breakfast for the Deathwing.

Alex

Yes, speaking the foes of the God-Emperor, what sort of enemies are detailed for the main 3 enemies (Tau, Nids and Chaaaos). Are there things like traitor marines (and do they come in various delicious flavours)? Or Tau battle suits etc?

Also thanks for taking the time to answer our questions...unfortunatly I think York will have to wait a while for its copies of the game :P

@Kage: Nope, if you are trapped in damaged Terminator Armour, you're screwed, since it takes hours to get into it and out of it.

@AK: I have no idea what GS or FS is. Please use the actual terms you mean rather than shorthand, otherwise I don't know what you're talking about.

@Zeratil:

Chaos: Daemon Princes, Chaos Marines (nope, just standard Chaos Marines, though rules for the different Marks are there too), Renegade Militia, and Chaos Heretics (Fanatics)

Tau: Tau Commanders (in Crisis Battlesuits), Stealth Suits, Gun Drones and Fire Warriors

Tyranids: Hive Tyrants, Tyranid Warriors, Hormagaunts and Termagants.

Cool stuff!

As For GS and FS, I suspect they stand for Genestealers and Final Sanction.

Hi All!

I was hoping someone who managed to snag a copy of the book could answer a very simple question for me which actually stemmed from the "Hordes vs. Temple Assassins" thread please?

The question in... erm... question would be as follows:

Would the Combat Master Talent allow you to parry Horde attacks or, if not, are there special skills/talents/special abilities that would let you dodge or parry them eventually?

Many thanks in advance!

How does Requisitioning weapons work?

What are some of the psychic powers?

What are Templar players meant to do when there's a psyker in the party?

BYE

Actually, one more question:

The background for Deathwatch - I'm guessing the book goes into some detail about how the Deathwatch came about, how Marines are selected, their organisational structure (if any) and the role they play within the Ordo Xenos (including some info about the Ordo Xenos, the least explored Ordo of them all)? 'Cause it's one area of 40K that just needs fleshing out, and I'd hope that a game called 'Deathwatch' would do that. gui%C3%B1o.gif

I really didn't need a response, MILLANDSON. I was being playful since I was, at the time, just watching that scene from Dark Knight. It reminded me of the suggestion (was it Hellebore?) that Terminator armour is basically something that you cobble on top of a power armour frame and, well, a single glass of red wine (and a whole lot of whimsy) later and you're dealing with the Batinator. gran_risa.gif

Thanks for answering it anyway, though.

You can already dodge Horde shooting attacks, but no, you cannot dodge or parry Horde melee attacks with any of the talents/skills I've seen. It comes from each Horde Attack actually being several members of the Horde attacking, so you can't possibly dodge all of them.

@HBMC: Requisitions works by you spending the Requisition points you are given at the beginning of a mission (varied depending on difficulty, length of mission, number of objectives, etc) on whatever wargear you have the Renown (your personal glory, honour, etc) to be allowed to requisition. These items are then given back at the end of the mission. All Marines have a standard equipment list too, depending on Speciality (career).

Psychic Powers include Smite, Short-Range Telepathy, Vortex of Doom, and several pages of other powers.

Yes, there's lots of info about the Deathwatch, how it was formed, it's relationship with the Inquisition (it's only technically a Chapter Militant), and a lot of other stuff. Most of the info is on the Deathwatch though, not the Ordo Xenos, because technically the Deathwatch isn't part of the Ordo Xenos.

Any more details on mission types beyond dispatching xenos and collecting their tech?

Alex

Deathwatch don't only go after Xenos. I mean yea, their speciality is Xenos, but if they are needed, they won't snub a mission just because it involves heretics or daemons instead.

As for missions, well, they do whatever you want them to do. A few suggestions in the book are recon missions, sabotage, assassinations, bodyguards (for Generals, Inquisitors, etc), Envoys (actings as diplomats to a faction), stuff like that. Literally though, if there is any type of military or diplomatic mission you can think of, you can figure out a way for the Deathwatch to be involved.

Inquisitor Omandi looked at the assembled team before him and thought for a moment. Finally, he nodded and locked eyes with the one chosen for this duty.

" Brother Octavius, we are in need of someone to perform a mission most dire."

Octavius' shoulders squared, " My lord? "

" Report to mess barrack 13-A for tuber scrubbing duty. This is punishment for your 'accidental' discharge of your bolter in the munitions depot, causing the premature detonation of more than one-hundred 'Earthshaker" shells for the 322nd Maccabian Artillery Battalion. This punishment has already been approved by your Sergeant. Step lively, and double time, MARINE !"

The moral of the story, even a marine can get stuck on KP. happy.gif
