Spite Dwarves

By Clamatius, in Warhammer Invasion Deck Building

Very insightful analysis, Shub...I'm willing to bet that you'll do very well at the CG championships. I look forward to meeting you there. :)

I think it's hard to predict what the meta will be. The last 2 battlepacks have given Order many shiny objects while Destruction was largely left in the cold. Given that people tend to be playing whatever's new and pretty, I would guess that there will be more Order decks than you would expect.

Having said that, Deathmaster is still really good, Spider Riders are still cheap and the Dark Elf ladies don't wear many clothes. So who knows?

With Dwarves ability to get so much from developing the Kingdom, maybe Reap Whats Sown could be really good. You spent your whole hand playing out dudes and supports? Innovate, Reap, Innovate and dump your new hand on the table to pull out the win within a couple turns. Dwarves almost seem good enough to take the best of the Bolt Thrower deck and just pack it into a mono-faction aggro-control monster.

I played a good amount of games this weekend and there definitely were some times where I'd really have liked to have a Reap What's Sown. Though, other times you play multiple Mining Tunnels and draw **** tons of cards that way. There were also times I would have liked to have a Long Winter.

I liked the Ancient Tomb into the battlefield for Troll Slayers too hadn't thought of it until it came up in game play.

My best first turn was Defender, DCC finds Tomb, Innovate to play Mining Tunnels, develop and draw a Warpstone Excavation to play to the Quest. :-D

With the potential for such explosive starts, I agree it's really worth trying a Dwarf Board based Bolt Thrower deck w/ DCC.

Updated listing that doesn't auto-lose to Thrower.

2x Mountain Legion
3x Slayers of Karak Kadrin
3x Dwarf Cannon Crew
3x Dwarf Ranger
1x Zealot Hunter
3x Mountain Brigade
3x Longbeards
18 Units

3x Innovation
2x Stand Your Ground
1x Lure Them Out
3x Order in Chaos
1x High Elf's Disdain
3x Demolition!
3x Master Rune of Spite
16 Tactics

3x Warpstone Excavation
3x Contested Village
1x Great Book of Grudges
3x Mining Tunnels
3x Ancestral Tomb
1x Dwarf / High Elf Alliance
2x Treasure Vaults
16 Supports

I've only tested this against Thrower, so YMMV. A lot. Still, it's the first Dwarf list I've had that doesn't fold like a deckchair to Thrower, so that's something.

I like this. Lots. Since I consider myself too cool for school, I haven't read to see if anyone asked you to consider ditching the Blessing for another Lure. I know why it's there...just... that card bugs me. Also, Grudgebearers. Finally, Contested Stronghold is a good idea, but probably only as a x1. Your resource engine is pretty strong. Maybe sub it for x1 Mining Tunnel or one of your power nine.(but I am just a single set chump) This deck is hella impressive.

Updated updated. This is a version that I played against today.

The Grudgebearers are there for testing purposes - personally, I'm not sold that they are that great. After this the next change was -1 Grudgebearer +1 King Kazador, but we haven't played that version yet. Yeah, Blessing got cut a while ago, it wasn't doing it any more.

I may try the 3/4 Lizard next too.

Oh yeah, don't cut Mining Tunnels. Ever. Seriously. I'd cut a Contested Village before I cut Mining Tunnels, it's just that ridiculously good.

I like this list a lot. I might switch one Valaya to a Burn It Down. I've never liked having a full set of them in this deck.
