My wife's favorite Highlands tactic

By Zapranoth, in Talisman

My wife's latest favorite trick is to go to the Lost City with a fate counter and a lucky charm in her possession.

Roll one 6, and then lucky charm the other die to a 6. Instant relic, and if strong enough, can proceed to get another in a move or 2 from the Eagle King, yielding 50% chance of gaining Arnkell for rush to center.

That's nice. Even with fate you only get a six 11/36 times. But even if you don't, you stil hit 25% of the time if you can beat the Eagle King. That makes almost a one in three chance at Arnkell. Of course lucky charms are hard to come by, but next time I find one I think I'll try this!

lucky charms, weighted dice, orb of destiny, twist of fate

Last night during our game, I was delt the Dwarf as a charter. I had adventured around a bit here and there and had built up my stats to Str 5 Cft 6. I was in the mountains when I found the Lucky Charm. Then remembering reading what your wife had done I had an idea. I then made my way to the middle region, I had an axe and built a raft, whet through the PoP, I only had to roll 1d to open the door, I used my Craft, then went through the Mines, I nneded to roll 2d si I used the Lucky Charm set down one die as a 1 and rolled the other die which came up a 4, and the rest was a victory.

Note to High power characters: Better watch for the Dwarf he can end the game quick.

Other info about the game:

Players 4: Wizard, Oger Chieftian, Warrior, Dwarf

Ending: Crown of Command

In both those cases (esp. the latter though, since any of the other three chars could've probably done it), I for one would be all over the character with Lucky Charm or similar Object, PvP, beat them, take it or force them to use it. If you see a char with a "free-ride" combo and don't do anything about it, you only have yourself to blame if you do lose.
