Gencon Prognostications

By Dobbler, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I think rush will do very well. They are certainly hard to meta against (I agree that Targ is probably the best, but I don't think we will see a ton of them), and in the right hands they are very solid against many of the stronger deck-types.

They got 4th last year out of nowhere, and they always seem to have one deck that goes pretty far (maybe 2008 being the exception - I know in 2006 the only undefeated after Swiss was Bara).

Who was the #1 seed in 2006? I don't remember at all. Dan Fritz, Tzumainn, Me, you...we all made the final 8, but I don't remember the others.

I'm hoping to finish coming my records ('06 was the other year Ktom couldn't attend) and upload all the old results to the wiki.

Oh, jeez...he was a Bara player from East of the Mississippi (meaning I didn't know him very well - unless he was from NYC, which he wasn't). Played power rush w/ Jousting a bit...Knights Agenda I think? I beat him in the quarters or semi's (I think semi's). Don't THINK he plays anymore.

I think it was Jason Rees. He was quite a good player. Stopped playing with the switch to LCG and hates FFG now.

Ya know... I'm starting to think Targ may steal the win this year. The big IF is dependant on how many Stark decks it faces.

For me, the biggest IF would be how many of Dobbler, finitesquarewell, Twn2dn, Longclaw, and yourself (assuming they're all present) play Targ.

First time I played longclaw 2 years ago (I think) he played stark with heavy use of fields of ghiscar and icy catapult I think.

Twn2dn and Luke are consistent Targ players.

Twn2dn won't be at GenCon sad.gif

By the way, I'll be cheering for DC-meta players, and then any/all Targ players at GenCon. Good luck!
