Sadly it would seem that a collector's edition is either going to be an afterthought or non-event for Deathwatch, since news of such a release is typically forthcoming by now...we are afterall, only a month from prospective release and the standard editions are already being shipped to the warehouse based on the schedule. It would be tragic if a decision had been made to not produce a collector's edition based on the transit/packaging issue which happened with Rogue Trader CE. I have been eagerly awaiting the chance to complete my trio of 40k rpg collector's editions
Still no mension of a collector's edition
I would have to agree and to a degree i don't blame them for not doing a collectors edition as they had alot of grief last year due to the RT edition.
However the way to resolve a problem is to face it head on not change your goals so that the problem doesn't occur again in the future.
But as long as i can get my hands on a collectors version of the system i don't mind if its basic without all the bells and whistles the last one had.
Listen to the Warcapulets podcast. Question will be answered.

Sorry, I gave you incorrect information. It was World's End Radio. http://worldsendradio.com/. It is a pretty good interview about Deathwatch. But really to answer this question at the end of interview they ask him if there is going to be a collectors edition. Ross responded yes.

Already listened to the podcast a while ago and the answer of yes but i can't discuss it anymore isn't really useful
Bear in mind that previous collector's editions were not even announced till fairly close to the general release. I'm not that concerned about it - though I will have one.
Not true really the RT collectors edition was announced and you could pre-order it ages before gencon and the dark heresy collectors edition was a different company so you can't really compare them.
Anyone who ordered the RT collectors edition can remember the amount of "nerf rage" over it and i don't blame FFG for wanting to avoid it this time.
If they don't tell us when something is coming out we can't blame them if it seems to be late

True. If I recall correctly, the pre-orders went up in June with what was thought to be a blanket understanding of August release, and then people got all crazy that the book wasn't in their hands before July.

All I know is I have a friend going to GenCon with a mission, get my DW book, Collectors or not. I am hoping to have a DW book in hand before next weeks end.

I'm hoping to have my copy from FFG sometime soon too. I mean, there has to be some bonus to playtesting stuff for them, right
Odd, I remember no nerd rage concerning the Collector's Edition of RT. Sure, the box it came in had suffered damage, but c'est la vie...
Anywho, I intend to buy Deathwatch's CE, if possible. The binding and general quality of the RT CE book is so nice and cuddly and lovely and nice and fake-leathery with the wonderful satin bookmark ribbon that I want the same with my Astartes Experience™.

You obviously didn't go to the RT collectors edition forum when it was open lot's of unhappy people.
Anyway only a few more days to go until its released they got to tell us something soon.
Poke Poke
Surely they would make it available soon, at least so they can allow printing personalised copies.

You presume they are going to do personalized copies with the Deathwatch CE. As I recall, that wasn't the case with the Dark Heresy CE; only with the Rogue Trader CE, which made sense, since it came with a warrant of trade. I cannot think of anything pertinent within the scope of the Deathwatch which would require any personalization of the collector's edition. If they do something like that, awesome. But neither have I been holding my breath on the matter,

Each Dark Heresy CE came with a different Inquisitor's Certificate of Ownership

Yes, but they weren't "personalized" to the purchaser. Half of the Rogue Trader CE's were personalized with the purchaser's RT name printed on the Warrant of Trade. I do not think Deathwatch will have quite that level of personalization. We might see something similar to the Dark Heresy certificates, but not those warrants
-=Brother Praetus=-
Yup, the main the difference between the two was the availability or not of personalization. The difference was that Rogue Trader accepted half in personalized and then the rest were put in several "pre-chosen" names designed by FFG and or the Testers (no idea who is what that means) of which several copies were printed under each name.
My guess if anything is that there will be naught but "pre-chosen" names chosen by FFG for the DW CE if they do indeed do one, and that doesn't bother me one iota.

Judging by the images released of the CE, it does look like the certificates are personaised. And why wouldn't they be?

Really? Because all I saw in the picture was some sort of parchment with a name already added to it. That says nothing about personalizing. It does show that there will be some kind of certificate to it.
Why wouldn't they be personalized? Well, let us speculate on the number of copies which will be made first. If we see something like the release of the Rogue Trader CE, where there were a total of 1000 copies released, half of which were personalized. So, presuming similar, we would have 500 named Deathwatch marines all of a sudden, which would be semi-official. I do not see it as being a likely investment on FFG's part this time around. But then, I could be wrong and you could be right. It doesn't really matter one way or the other until we get some official word on this point.
-=Brother Praetus=-
I certainly hope for personalization.
I have a characterization who has been itching to be Marine-ified for all too long. Am really hoping to get to put his name on the cert without resorting to prop building and "redoing" my cert.
Either way in the end I will end up with a personalized cert, however I would much rather have it "officially" made than have to build it myself.
