Brienne of Tarth vs. Siege of Winterfell

By Kralicht, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi all,

Brienne of Tarth (Pots):

While Brienne of Tarth is participating in a challenge, opponents cannot trigger effects.

Siege of Winterfell:

Response: After you win a M challenge, claim 2 power for your house.

I know that an Agenda is not in play and cannot be cancelled.

I am defending with Brienne, can the opposing player activate the triggered effect? Brienne don't cancel the agenda so I understand that the response cannot be activated.

Is it correct?

Thanks.

Can't Trigger is can't trigger... and is not a Cancellation. Unless rulings have changed in the interim, she should prevent the agenda's "production" of two power for their house.

There haven't been any changes. Brienne stops opponents from triggering Seige of Winterfell's Response.

Does that mean that He Calls It Thinking can also cancel the power claim?

No, He Calls it Thinking would not be able to cancel the Agenda's triggered effect. Agenda effects can't be canceled as stated in the FAQ. Brienne finds a loop hole of sorts as she does not cancel triggered effects; instead, she stops your opponent from being able to trigger them. Preventing an effect from being triggered and canceling an effect after it's been triggered are two completely different things.

Thanks, Fatmouse.
