Two little questions

By mdoppio, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hi all :)

I have two doubts about tho cards from the Curse of the Dark Pharaoh expansion

1)

Bank Foreclosure

Mythos Ability: Any investigators in Arkham with Bank Loans must pay them off immediately. You may sell items at half their list price (round down) if you do not have the $10; if you cannot or will not pay, you are arrested.

Flavor Text: An archaeological expedition to Egypt sponsored by the bank has disappeared without a trace ... which means no returns on the bank's investment. Concerned for their savings, townsfolk rush the bank to withdraw their funds.

If I cannot pay the bank I'm arrested. The card "Bank loan" is discarded?

2)

Scales of Thoth

Upkeep: Choose a dimension symbol. This turn, you gain a +3 on all checks against monsters with that symbol and a -1 on all checks against monsters with other symbols.

+3 bonus and -1 malus to which checks applies? Only combat or also terror, evade, ecc ecc ... ?

Thanks in advance

There are no official answers to these so far. But I'll give you my two cents:

1) First of all, you may choose not to pay if you don't wish to pay. But I'd say that you still keep the Bank Loan, because otherwise it seems like being arrested is an easy way out of paying.

2) Whenever I consider bonuses "to monsters," I only count Evade, Combat, and Horror (and other unique checks like with The Bloated Woman). It's difficult to determine which Spell checks would be okay, so I don't count any.

/Agrees with Tibs. Also, spell checks are not exactly against monsters. Spell checks are to cast the spells to increase the combat check against that monster.

Ok, I agree, this seems the most logical way to play.

Thanks for answers
