Dicent - a Descent dice simulator for android

By FaeRhan, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Dicent is a android app that lets you select the dice you are rolling with and randomly generates a result with those dice. You can also do rerolls and add black/silver/gold dies after rolling (up to 5 power dice total). As far as I know, you can do everything you need dice for in descent with dicent. If I forgot anything, please tell me

You can download it at the project website or the android market. Its free as in speech and beer ;)

feedback would be appreciated.

We need an iphone app :(

Steve Jobs won't allow it...

(though with the recent FCC ruling, I don't think he can block apps anymore)

What I would love to see is the descent edit as an app.

Even as an ipad app. I would pay mucho bucks for it.

I don't understand this... Why would he not allow it??

There's already so many dice emulators out there. My very own iPhone has 2 dice emulators.

Depends on what it was written in. I was assuming it was a Flash application. But if it's a java app, then you can make it work on an iPhone, though has to be approved...

I downloaded the app and gave it a try.

Its good. Extremely basic in the graphics dept., but very functional. It works well and I like how it gives you a tally of how many wounds, surges and range you did without having to count them all out. No more scanning the table looking for that last power die you need!

I'm not a programmer in any means so I have no idea what it would take, but some Descent graphics, sounds and 3D dice (like DiceBox etc.) would make the app shine. Too bad the other people that play with me have iphones!

Again, very functional. Glad to have it!

I gave it a try too, awesome work! ;)

Half the fun is rolling the dice, why bother with an app, you could code a dice simulator in anything, but it take the feel of the game away.

An editor I could see the point of though.

What I would LOVE would be a droid app that would help track campaigns!!!

Maybe a map that could be zoomed into - or viewed in landscape where I could click on the locations - see quickly as a reference what the stats of each city are - and a way to mark where the heroes are - the LTs are - and sieges etc. Would love to be able to track that on my phone - and not necessarily get the board out each time if we don't need. (And a way to save the state so between play we know.)

There could be some cool possibilities with something like that. :)

http://www.descentcampaigntracker.com is a web app running on what looks to be just javascript and html, so it should be fully functional in a mobile browser. We use pencil and paper, so I haven't given it a full workout, but it let sme login and navigate just fine on android 1.6, so it should definitely work on any more recent OS versions.

Yeah - we looked at that - but it is clunky kinda on a phone web browser... :) at least for me - we use pen and paper too. Just wanted to throw out the idea of a fun interactive map for the android that could also track. :)
