Questions about Rules and Format

By FranklinBR, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

Just a quick question about Characteristic Checks…for those who are checking against supernatural characteristics…as seen on page 6. In the example, Celia is making an Opposed STR against Serenade. Celia has a STR of 5, Serenade has a STR of 11. How does Serenade, for the purpose of the check, have a 13STR do anything? What if Celia rolls a 2, having a 3-point success? What if Serenade rolls a 9, having a 4-point success? How does Celia have a chance at luck against Serenade?

Also, I am very interested in the miniature game. I would love to buy it and play it, I already play Warhammer Fantasy Battle and enjoy the painting of miniatures. So can anyone give me more information about the miniature game? Is it like Wizard of the Coasts’ D&D miniature game? Or is it for a grander scale? Can you, for example, create an actual army as in WFB and play against the Light and Darkness? If so… What are the miniatures like? Do they (as I believe they do) come prebuilt or do I have to build them myself (like WFB)? Can one use a number of the miniatures losely enough to create a squad?

Thanks!

Serenade has an effective 13 Strength because every point over four counts double. Celia has Str 5. Serenade has Str 11. 11 - 5 = 6. 6 is two points over 4. 6 - 4 = 2. Each point over 4 counts twice, so Serenade get two extra points. Celia can still beat her though provided she rolls low and and Serenade rolls high.
