My new case for my talisman set.

By Ommadawn, in Talisman

Last week, I went to Hobby and I bought some boxes for my Talisman set. In total, they cost me $110 (although they went on sale this last week and I received a $35 refund, so in all they were $75).

This is the case:

Here is the case open with the boxes inside. You can see the six boxes- two larger ones, two medium sized and two smaller ones. You can also just barely see the boards and rules under the boxes on the left. The black thing in the middle back is a dice cup.

Here are the larger cases. I have the cones and coins in the one that is closed. In the open one, I have the character cards, the ending cards, the other cards that size (like the toad cards) and the character minis:

And, finally, this is a picture of one of the medium boxes (the two on the very far right in the main case). They hold two rows of cards in sleeves perfectly. :) :) :)

I know that this makes me a true geek, but I love the setup now. LOL! :) :) :)

Sorry but no pictures are viewable.

Nuts. I keep trying to put the pictures in, but I can't seem to do it. How do I put pictures in here?

They're viewable via cut and paste into the browser (I think), but I would prefer to put them in one of these posts as it would be much easier.

When I copy and past your URLs, I am taken to a blank page with a link to upload images... which when clicked asks me to sign up and log in. By the look of your URLs, something is missing since they are all the same instead of identifying individual images. The reason you are seeing something is likely because when you go to those URLs, you are still signed into your account via a cookies set in your browser by that site.

I even tried seaching out how to share images, but only found a brief reference to sharing galleries. When I tried to look for something more specific, again it expected me to sign up... just to read instructions.

I strongly suggest you dump Kodak immediately as your image host and get something more useful. I prefer DropBox because it lets me share anything, either fully publicly or otherwise. It is far more versatile as well as easier to use, since you computer will simply use it as if it was an extra drive connected to your computer. There are other popular sites for free hosting of only images and media. Once you have that settled, you grab the URL (though in using DropBox you simply right-click in your own Finder (Mac) or Windows Explorer on the file inside your dropbox and "Copy Public Link". While posting here, you "Insert/Edit Image" icon on the toolbar, and fill in the pop up dialog.

O.k... let's try this again. Here is the case itself:

Note the two larger boxes (bottom-left), the two mid-sized boxes (right hand side) and the two smaller boxes (top or back left). Here is the picture of the two larger boxes with contents:

Here is one of the mid-sized boxes with the two rows of sleeved cards that fit into it perfectly:

The smaller boxes each fit one row of sleeved cards perfectly. Please see the original post for more details.

Much better... but now you need to figure out how to use the Insert Picture function in the post editor

Kind of an antiquee, classy setup you have there!

Haha awesome, we need to get something like that. Our cards are scattered all throughout the box every time we whip ours out bostezo.gif

Thanks. :) :) :) Now, how do I put the actual picture into these posts? LOL!

Good enough. There are two other tricks to keep in mind for the future

For links... in the pop up dialog there are tabs across the top. You can click the "target" tab to set a link to open in an "new window." Most modern browsers will then open the link in a new "tab," leaving this page as is so people can come back to it and keep all opened links open in separate tabs

For images inserted... you can set the width and height to less than what the image really is. This is a trick I use myself with posting something like a character card. I then instruct the view to "right-click and view/save" and if "view" they can open it in the same window/tab or a new one. That way you can display an lesser sized image to fit forum page width and that "thumbnail" or reduced size comes from the original image itself... it just displays it at the size you designate.

Still a cool setup you've got there! Kinda reminisent of Warehouse 13 artifacts.

Hooray! Finally I know how to do this. Thanks for all of the help, guys. :) :) :)

Yay! That's the ticket!

Hatter what company created those boxes? I'd be interested in purchasing a set, their very nice.

Oops, their should have been they're.

I bought them all at Hobby Lobby. :) :) :)

Edit: They cost me about $110 all told. There went the money that I was saving up for my laser, but c'e la vie. :) :) :)

Wow very cool! I think Hobby lobby will get me as customer, instead of my wife for once.

Yeah, they have this entire section of really nice wooden boxes (and, to be honest, I really love wooden boxes for some reason). The only other game for which I have a wooden box set up is Settlers of Catan. However, the set of boxes for Talisman is a much nicer one. :) :) :)

Edit: I corrected an inaccurate and misleading preposition.

I miss having a Hobby Lobby now that I'm Oregon. There was one half a mile up the street when I was in Colorado. It is amazing the unique little things you can find there. I should have realized where those boxes came from when I saw them!

this is really awesome :) like a Treasure box ;)

Thanks for the info Hatter. I was just in Spokane Washington last week and saw a Hobby Lobby but never went inside ;(

Over on the western side of Washington state we don't have one yet .... dang it!
