Back with a preview for March of the Damned
Looking sexy, really great find! >D Really like the Skinks, even more anti-Skaven tech, and they stop early Shades. The lack of a Zealot Hunter equivalent in Destruction makes the Lizardmen mighty tasty . . . not too sure about Savagery yet, but this guy is definitely solid. Here are some zoomed in versions I whipped up:

I read the ability for the corpse cart and I was thinking 'why would a person do that' then I remembered necromancy =P
By the way, those are some cool cards.
Much love for the Skinks. Note that their ability isn't forced, so if you have to just get a hammer on the table they don't kill themselves (unlike Zealot Hunter).
Yes, but you can totally respond to their ETB ability by WNYB'ing them away. BLOWOUT.
Corpse Cart. Auto-include in every Skaven deck. What better way to run the "still had all these" than milling yourself with all your resources on the turn you beat them. Not to mention, you beat them with a deck that runs Corpse Cart. (that stings).
Yeah, Corpse Cart would need something pretty amazing to go with it to justify even thinking about playing it. It has "last pick in draft" pretty much written all over it.
Skinks are very strong though. Killing off Clan Rats, Greyseer, Spider Riders, Dragonslayer, Shades, etc. etc. and getting a little guy out of it seems like you are going to play them in an awful lot of Order decks.
Order gets a plush Deathmaster, how cute. In all fairness, this guy definitely has 'value' written all over him. Very solid card. I like how Errant Wolf, Envoy and Huntsman get relegated to "etc" in your list of juicy targets though
How low order has fallen...
Errant who?
1 hp guys have to be pretty amazing to be worth playing even right now - Dark Elves are just too popular. Envoys and Huntsmen are good enough - the issue is the other stuff in the deck, not those guys. I don't think Errant Wolf is worth running at the moment - but it's tempting. It's the kind of thing you might have in a sideboard if you were allowed them - PP for 2 is solid.

But assuming you target a 1 HP unit with the Skink's ability (which in DElves/Skaven you should be doing), WNYB will still leave that target dead at EOT when the HP boost wears off. They've just wasted a kill spell on a 1 power 2 cost unit that's vanilla after it enters play :/

But with WNYB resolving first, don't the Skins die before their Action ever gets around to resolving? Thus the increased HP from WNYB isn't even needed (though you need a unit in play to combo).

Not going to lie, I'm not entirely sure how actions that trigger at a specific point work. I always thought Invasion has a remove-the-source of the effect, the- effect-still-happens rule but I'm not in a position to check atm :/
Could be, too early in the day for me to think deep thoughts (just 11:12 am
). Mostly a moot point from my POV, I'll be skipping that deluxe expansion and probably all BPs after Lizzes and Undies start appearing
.
EDIT: Yeah, you were right.
Hi,
I'm really interested in corpse cart. i hope Necromancy (and possible other discard pile manipulating effects) makes it worthvile !
The skink is very straightforward and playable. Combos nicely with Savage, but usable on it's own too.
Where did Curator acquire these previews? Just curious. I'm pretty stoked for this new set. ![]()
lol guys, I was joking ![]()
FWIW though, my understanding of the rules is that W:I doesnt have a concept of "last known information" (like MTG does), so if the ability put on the stack when Skinks enters play referenced the Skinks, it wouldnt have any effect if the Skinks were no longer there at resolution time. For example, if it were templated like so:
- When Skinks enters play, it deals 1 uncancellable damage to target unit
But, since it isn't worded that way, it just says 'deal 1...', then you still get to do the damage even if Skinks eats it before the ability resolves.
Um you guys are forgetting....you can target your own units with skinks...
forget taking out skaven, think about the carnosaur rider's savage 3.
Skinks come in and hurt him, then in return he does 3 damage to enemy unit.
COME ON GUYS get your thinking caps on!
I found these in the newest GTM.
My store has copies of GTM and since I am pretty big news at my store I get things for free
(you guys think all the variants and articles I write are posted on the net...hahah. Now that wouldn't be fair to my local community would it?) This is the a magazine I scanned to find the article for knights and diseases.
You could always right click the image and go to the location.

There are tons of ways of abusing the Carnosaur's ability. Skinks are decent. Loremaster of Hoeth is another one. Master Rune of Spite means that he will most likely get rid of a particularly stubborn stain that survived the Rune.
However, I don't think that neglecting the fact that the Skinks kill off Greyseer and Clan Rats is a good idea just because of the combos with other Savage lizards.
The way the rules are for this game, pretty much regardless of which version of the Skinks was printed, self-referential or generic "this unit" wording aside their enters play ability can only be canceled not neutralized by timing. Once the cost is paid that 1 uncancelable damage is going somewhere, and there is no real way of stopping it if the ability itself is not canceled (since it is an Action and not a Forced, uncancelable only works on damage not the effect itself). It is on the stack the moment the active player makes the decision to put it there.
I'm interested in seeing what necormancy effects are coming. corpse Cart looks like a head scratcher, a card purely for the casual beer and pretzels crowd, but I suspect it is intended to combo pretty well in a dedicated Undead deck.
