Attack and Defense for Weapons

By Jacknoshima, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

Hi, me and my friends have recently gotten into Anime, and, so far, we've only been doing character creation. Now, we've got pretty much everything covered, except we don't understand something about the weapons.

On the sheet it says an Attack and Defense for the weapons. We presumed the attack of the character was the same for his/her weapon, but honestly we're not sure. And with the defense we didn't know what to do. The book says the defense is split into Dodge and Block but we couldn't find anywhere that tells us what to put down for the weapons.

So, if anyone could help us out here, it would be a massive help. Or even just a page number that tells us how to calculate/what to put in for the weapon's attack and defense. We've read through every party of the book we could think of to try and figure it out and we just can't. I know its probably something obvious, but until we find it out we're stuck on not being able to play. Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jack

Lets say you have an acrobatic warrior so you have 600 DP. You can only put half of that into attack/block or 300 points. If you look at the acrobatic warrior in the character section you'll see it costs 2 DP points to raise attack or block by 1 point. For this character type you put all the points in attack and dodge possible and get 75 attack and 75 dodge for the base. Then you add characteristic modifiers and class modifiers. We'll assume that being an acrobatic warrior you have an 11 in agility because you spent a creation point to raise it which gives you a bonus of +15 to your dodge and that you have an 8 in agility which gives you a bonus of +10 to your attack. Then you raise both dodge and attack by +5 because as a level 1 acrobatic warrior you get that as part of your class giving you a total of 90 attack and 95 dodge.

As for that being modified because of your weapons. Shields give a +10,+20, or +30 to block depending on the size of them, and weapons, armor and shields all have extra bonuses they grant beyond the basic ones if they are +5 or +10 quality items. Generally though your attack/dodge will be the final attack/dodge. When they are not you can put that information under the related weapon on the sheet. There's a square box for you to put the attack/block you have with that item.

You only raise either block or dodge depending on your character type and you can always choose to do the other at a -60 penalty to your primary ability which means if you have a 150 in dodge you can block at a skill level of 90.

chapter 3 and chapter 8
