Blue Other World card ?

By alboy, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

l was delayed and in one of the Other Worlds. There is a Blue Other World card in which l had to use Other, l had to "Pass a Speed (-2) check to return to Arkham. lf you fail, you are lost in time and space. ln either event, you automatically close the gate you entered through". lf l succeed the check and there is a monster with the gate can l still ignore the monster this turn and take the gate as a trophy, without rolling any dice to close it, also can l try to seal the gate or not, and l assume you still remove any monsters with the gate symbol, plus am l right in thinking l am still delayed when l return.

You return to Arkham as a result of an OW encounter. You don't have to deal with the monster during this round, and, as soon as you come back to Arkham, you immediately close the gate (the monster will be there even in the following round - unless its dimensional symbol matches the one on the portal - so you'll have to deal with him in quite a short time), taking it as a trophy (no dice roll required, correct, and all matching dimensional symbol monsters are returned to the cup). Anyway, you are not allowed to seal, even if you have enough clues.

As far as being delayed... not so sure I got the point... when / why were you delayed? as a result of a previous round encounter or because you entered the gate (as a resoult of "a gate and a monster appear" encounter during AE Phase) in the very same round you drew the OW encounter card instructing you to come back to Arkham? In the first case, you started the round delayed, so no movement phase and when you read the OW encounter card, you were not delayed any longer, so no probs in the following round. In the second case, yes, you're still delayed as you return to Arkham

Thanks Julia, l was sent through the gate as a result of a location encounter where a gate and monter appeared.

lf l had failed the skill check and was lost in time and space, being already delayed l assume it makes no difference to the sequence.

The next turn after taking the gate, ln the movement phase l am delayed and have to evade or fight the monster, do l stand my lnvestigator up before or after l do the monster.(l know l can not move).

To make sure l understand being lost in time and space, do l follow this procedure.

1) Move to lost in time and space and be delayed, no difference if already delayed.

2) Next turn, stand lnvestigator up in Upkeep phase.

3) Next turn, miss a turn.

4) Next turn, move anywhere in Arkham (locations or streets) in Upkeep phase.

ls this sequence correct or am adding another missed turn by mistake.

True. You cannot be delayed more than one round. And thank you for the details about the delayed dynamic :.smiling::

I'm not so sure if it really matters when you stand up your investigator... as you like it, I'd say, just remember you cannot leave the street area / location you're in, and that's all

Too many next turns, I think...

Round 1: you go LiTaS. No further action for this turn
Round 2: you stand up your investigator again. Remember you skip this turn (no upkeep, no movement, no encounters)
Round 3: at the start of the Upkeep Phase, you may move to any location / street area in Arkham

Hope this helps!

Thanks again Julia.

l did wonder if l was playing lost in time and space the correct way, now l know l was not.

l still wonder if l made the correct choice in using a clue to pass the skill check as l got trounced by a powerful monster l could not evade.
