Thank You FFG

By serenity5, in UFS General Discussion

I just want to say thank you to Fantasy Flight, mostly for not caring about us Scouts at Christmas. I'm not looking for physical reward, but a fecking thank you at this time of year wouldn't have gone a miss would it? It's not like we spend the entire year running demos, organising touraments, travelling around the country at our own expense to promote the game is it? It;s not like it would have taken much to drop a quick message, even on the boards, just to say thank you guys for the hard work. Doesn't take a lot does it, just type three words, thank you scouts, not a lot to ask is it?

Now before anyone has some sort of rant at me for being ungrateful or something let me just say this, I run X amount of tournaments every month, I have ran national tournaments, I run demo days, etc., etc., and I never, never , ask for anything in return, I love what I do. That said I don't think it's too much to ask for Paul or Steve or anyone else at FFG to say thank you dude and merry christmas. Not a lot to ask is it?

Not like we get free promos or anything for running events. Oh wait....

Personally I'd rather they kept working on the important things, like getting the new rules ready, getting these forums up to snuff, getting the OP site and tournament software to play nice with each other, making upcoming tournaments visible to players. That kind of thing.

The thanks you get is your organizer rewards.

The thanks you get is people playing the game in your area thanks to you.

The thanks you get is that warm fuzzy feeling of helping keeping your LGS from going under.

The thanks you get it is players haranguing you for rulings that aren't your fault.

If you volunteered (which you did) you aren't owed thanks. Maybe you'll get it, but asking for it, especially in as angry a manner as you did, is kind of disingenuous.

---------------

Personally I am pretty happy with FFG right now. Several things have been improved since the STG days (the only thing that really has devolved is communication w/ the fan base, which is something we were warned about up front). And we have a lot to look forwards to next year. I love the company (I was a big fan before the STG/FFG transfer thanks to Twilight Imperium and Mag-Blast) and I also love the game even with all of it's faults. I know sometimes I give the impression that I'm a trouble maker, or difficult person, I assure you I'm not. I just really love the game, and want it to be the best it can. Improving something often means fixing the problems rather then cherry coating them.

TLDR version:

Thank you FFG, despite how whiny and needy we are, we do love you and your games. Here's hoping you have a wonderful Christmas (or whatever Holidays you celebrate) and next year is the best year for you all (and especially UFS) yet!

I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't waiting for another x-mas promo. The x-mas promos is one thing I will surely miss from Sabertooth Games.

YA its just something we have to expect for now is that we wont be having as much communication with FFG like we did STG sadly it might include thanks for the holidays .

To ask for something like a Holiday reward is a bit rude.

Scouting isn't something that's done for reward from the company. It's done to spread the enjoyment of playing a game that you enjoy and hope to have others enjoy with you.

While I may have had prize support issues (and I have), posting and whining about it doesn't do any good for the game or for my players. If you've got something to say to FFG, go tell them and not complain about it in the forums.

I'll remain happy that the latest set is finally out and we've got players who are excited about it and ready to move onto Block 3. That's plenty of reward in my book.

...because we all want a new Happy Holidays running around, eh? :|

That reminds me of Chubbs lolipop shananigians maybe they will but him on a cards with some like F remove all articles of clothing : your opponent explodes of laughter.

I think another good ability for Chubbs would be. E: Violate your opponent

Should've been a "Naughty or Nice" holiday card featuring Mai Shiranui... I'll let your imagination do the drawing here.

I'm not asking for holiday promos.. I'm just saying that it would be a great bonus to have. I think those of us who claims to not want it are playing the modest guy.. we doesn't want cool freebies. Nick and Lolidays were great freebies to have regardless if one was hardly playable and the other overpowered.

Argh i have opened another can of worms or in this case lolipops.

Then I'd have to change my sig. You don't want me to do that.

I wholeheartedly second this notion.

awesome. that is exactly the card we need.

I kinda want to see Zangeif pile driving Santa for taking his cookies.

To the OP: No. You already get your thanks in the mail every month.

If you want thanks to be given, why not start with your local game store owner for keepin the game in stock and allowing you to run events in their venue?

Why not thank your loyal players for staying with the game, and give them some of your promos as gifts?

To ask for recognition for something that you love and enjoy doing (and are rewarded for) is asinine.

But here's my thanks to you. Thanks for reminding me how ungrateful people can be. You're very good at it.
