Talisman: The Sacred Pool Expansion announced!
Can't wait. I think this one will be awesome.
From what the reaper and frostmarch expansion have taought us, whats on the cover will be the characters, which means their will be a black knight-ish character! And the fact that whether your eveil or good actually matters for more then the church, graveyard and the very occasional adventure card is great. Like the idea of quest rewards, it;ll definetly make the warlock happy.
Nice. Does anyone have an idea how the alignment award system would work?
As i can see there are following characters (i can only count 3):
Prince, Templar(ess), Dark Knight
The fourth might be the "elemental queen" but i guess it is an ending card character.
WOOOHOOO
The last expansions tought us also that the Biggest Illustration is the "enemy".
The Characters were always smaller...
Also the name of this expansion matches the illustration (the sacred pool) - a goddess or queen rises up from a water pool.
And its interesting that some of the hints of what is in this expansion emulate what's already been done in the fan creator community. Very interesting.
Hooray! I love new endings and optional variant rules!
I'm excited about the quest rewards. We've been using the optional rule of a random treasure for a quest, but this is better I think. Also the treasure deck should never get depleted anymore.

Hmmm... The warlock can get a mule or water bottle (or any other purchase card) for completing a quest. This ability is less impressive when there is a reward deck for everyone anyway. Still, starting in the middle means the Warlock has faster access to these rewards, so I guess you are right - he'll be very happy.

Also, I don't know if that chick on the cover (the one rising from the pool with fire in her hands) can be the "Badguy", she just doesn't look the part like the ice queen or grim.
At this point is quite clear that "Warlock Quests" cards are no more a "variant". Basically every game design choice after Reaper Expansion give the fact that you will use them for granted.

It looks that she can be the "Badguy" but for evil Characters... I hope that she won't appear in Alt ending only and will have some influence in adventure cards also. One of the Characters with horses have probably good alignment and dark one evil. Great idea that alignment will be more significant and even if your character will be strong enough ti win it can lose if... you choose the wrong side. One think that I miss are new Dungeon and Highland cards but I hope they appear in the future. Those regions also need interactions with main board (like places to get new Stable cards or change aligment etc...)
Thanks for the link. Another nice piece of work by Ralph!
The illustrator of the cover refers to the central figure as a "goodie" rather than a "baddie"...are they all characters? The expansion says it comes with four; maybe these are they!
SPOILER for Dragonlance novels (Hey, you never know, and I hate it when people spoil my books/movies)
The final boss in this Talisman expansion could very well be "good". One of the big reveals of the Dragonlance series of novels, what that the Cataclysm (their version of Apocalypse), was caused not by the Evil Gods, like everyone thought, but by the Good Gods. (Very) long story short = the mortals thought they were better than Gods and the mortals then tried to command them. I believe in Greek, that's called "hubris" (goes way beyond pride, and it offends the Gods themselves). So, the Good Gods of Dragonlance took a big honking meteor, and threw it at the head of the kingpriest, obliterating his country and screwing up most of the world, including draining all clerical magic from it.
I loved that, for once, the "bad guys" was the Good side. It could be that the final boss for this expansion of Talisman was a Good Person cleansing the world of evil, i.e. you... but... common things being common, likely not, as cool as that might be.
Talismanamsilat promises equestrian followers and Neutral Alignment Card. Yay!
This is cool
. Can't wait until more news comes out.
Little spam post, but I can't wait, until Velhart will come back and will see this new expansion
Sweeeet! Can't wait for this to come out, especially like the neutral alignment stuff.
So we can expect to see this in when, December?
Oh, by the way, I went to Hobby Lobby last week and I bought some nice wooden boxes for my Talisman set. I will have to take pictures and post them in this forum. The purchase was so geeky, but I don't care. LOL!
We can expect 128 small cards as Reaper and Frostmarch. There is confirmed: 72 new Adventure cards, 16 new Spell cards, 24 Quest Reward cards from the rest I anticipate 4 Neutral Alignment cards and 12 Stable cards. Very good idea that Stable cards are different from Purchase desk cards because characters like Thief or Merchant can take it very easy. Game designers take care about the details so we can expect great and full ballanced Game till the last expansion. I also like the idea of Quest Reward cards that can give new bonus of completing the Warlock Quests apart from getting a Talisman. Keep it up!
I am really curious to see how a stable card is supposed to work.
About the quest rewards, I wonder if they are all "one-shot" effects like the ones displayed on the preview or there are also continuous effects, like, say, "add a +1 when you roll in the forest".

I am back
So we finally get neutral alignment cards.
This expansion looks very interesting!
Alternate ending cards are always welcome
It's nice to see new type cards such as the stable cards and the quest rewards cards.
I just realized, After this expansion FFG suspects us to some how shuffle 370+ cards....Thats a bit redicoulus!
Then don't shuffle that many at once....
Or don't try to play with so many at once... since you won't get through all of them ... maybe not even half ... anyway.
Our Adventure deck is only about 200+. Even with 4 players, we usually get through no more than half of them when played with two expansion boards exactly by the standard rules.
