What should I turn my hand to next?

By Elberon, in Battlelore

Hi everyone,

I've kind of hit a muse free place so I turn to you all for inspiration.

What crazy hairbrained homebrew project / concept should I turn my hand too next?

Creatures - got some mini's but no rules ideas?
Races - Likewise
Think the game is missing some element

Take a look at my zip file for stuff that's gone before as there's a fair bit I've covered already...

Chris

Race specific heroes ?

Goblin and Dwarven Loremasters ?

Goblins - Shaman / Mystic / Warchief that kind of thing.

More creature stats based on the most common D&D minis (these make GREAT BL creature figs)

Extra lore spells for the 4 classes ?

the list goes on !

Races

1. Barbarians... love barbarians :)

2 undead .. yucky but nice

3. Elves .. most every one loves elves

4. Animal races. lions, rats , most any kind

5. Amazons... good looking minis needed :)

Cheers

Thanks for the reply,

Barbarians -I just can't bring myself to do them in a 1400's europe, where would they roam? (though my Orcs might fit the bill)
Undead - check
Elves - high and drow check
Animal races - ratlings and birdmen check
Amazons - same as barbarians ;-)

(I might do barbars and zons as an intellectual exercise though ) Things with 'check against check out my download, see sig for details

Chris

oooohhh youj only want medieval Europe?

Well, the Scots , Irish would do for barbarians( a bit eariler there are the Vikings) or Turks, or Arabs, or Bzytine Empire, or religous, fanatics.

Ohhhh and Mongols ar for sure the mos barbaraic of the lot eh? they were around in 1400.

Destroed russia, Poland, Hungary etc.. west europe only saved cause the Great Kahn died.

so you will have horse archers and heavy horse with archers , feighned retrests ( use like in command and color "evade")

hmm?

Just looking to build on the world rather than armies to fit the system if you see the difference.
Scots are the Dwarves as per Mr Borgs world and from my google powered research there was an arabic empire along north coast of Africa through the middle East and up to (and some times including Istanbul / constantinople ) so the Goblin races will do for them ;-)

Religious fanatics would be the Holy Roman Empire (well pretty much the whole of the region). From what I know of Ireland at the time it might fit barbars as they didn't have the food source to have a stable state, and by the same token not worthy of invasion. Though the tribes together could muster an army or three.

Oh man now this kind of comment just leads me to....

SOOOOOooooo, tell me more, lots more. I reckon and RP can be born from 'the world' (it's got to use the BL dice though). Would love to see just how much DoW changed things, other races, other Lore cards.

Not sure it will ever happen, but I would also love to take a look at the mess made by those spilt beans gran_risa.gif

So far, the only ones I feel confident about are:

1) Mr. Borg intended BL to be played with Battle Savvy, and DoW decided to shape the moral rules as they did (and I am glad they did)

and now:

2) It was DoW's idea to have the Dwarves double as Scots (there was already a lot of complaining [bulk of it unwarranted, in my opinion] going on with the game by this point, but this "value-added" way of doing things was also poorly received...)

Looking forward to the answers to:

What do Mr. Borg's Call to Arms Deployment cards look like and How much fun is a Tork v. Elf game... gui%C3%B1o.gif

As am I Elberon... as am I :)

I do wish we see these things one day - that would be awesome.

Medieval Europe...

How about early cannons. On one hand they could wreck havoc on formations of the enemy lines, but often as not they would blow the Italian cannoneers to smithereens.

Now that would be cool.

They're already done, and pistoliers (take a look at my sig for the link) though not that prone to blowing up as the technology was pretty solid by the time it became a battlefield weapon having been used in sieges for years beforehand (no one on the internet would make it up honest)

Chris

You could try gests ont the War Counsil.

Command cards, maybe some a bit more powerfull but with a drawback.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but I think I have stumbled upon my next project....

I saw a rather excellent program about the sinking of the Mary Rose, which is a mite late for HYW period but it got me thinking of what naval warfare looked like back then, guess what, they got a boat and built wooden 'castles' on the fore and aft decks then filled them with troops armed with Bows and mellee weapons - awesomeness.

so my next project will be doing the "Battlelore - All at Sea" expansion, this is going to be a heck of an undertaking the ship systems will be a doddle as is terrain, specialists cards etc, even to a certain extent the lore cards should be 'translatable', my thoughts linger on the Lore deck (Cleric three I look at thee).

wish me luck gui%C3%B1o.gif
