By Emirikol, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Yep, and several other games I love, too. :)

Yes I did!

And now for some useless words so that I can stop getting the error message that my entry is too short to post.

jh

Yep. And Rogue Trader and some other games I like.

/M

Sorry, I can't in good conscience vote for WFRP.

...but thanks for letting us all know. ;)

Odd, WHFRP isn't in the list of rules for the year. Even with it having a pretty ingenious and not often seen game engine...oh well. Voted for the games I liked.

I would rate the majority of this community very highly though!

WHFR, while having potencial, didn't live up to most of its compitition. Still, evening getting the nod is pretty awesome, concidering the lack of awareness most people in the gaming community, localy and otherwise, have of it.

booo!!! hehe

WFRP 3rd isn't what I expected. I will not vote for it.

I voted for Warhammer in some categories but why wasn't it in the Best Games list? I was shocked! So I voted for Dragon Age there instead which was also a very fine game that has some things in common with WFRP (like returning to ye olde box set).

Voted. WFRPv3 scratches a certain kind of itch better than any other RPG for me. Was nice to see Trail of Cthulhu well represented too, thats my other fave RPG.

I have cast my vote as well! Perhaps unsurprisingly, my conscience had no trouble at all voting for WFRP3. It's *very* innovative and fun to play. It isn't all things to all gamers, but it's a dang fine start AFAIC.

I was also a bit saddened that it didn't get a nod in the best game category. I think that's a oversight given how they went deep into unexplored territory with the design. You can't say that FFG didn't try something new.

Perfectly understandable. :)

double boo!

Yeah, honestly, I have no understanding for the basis of this criteria. I also don't know who supports it and for what agenda, but it seems 3e has gotten shafted in these awards. I don't think I'll bother voting, because I really don't agree with the placement of many games in the categories and from what list they pulled the games in question, but I think the list is off.

I also second that this game is very innovative and that innovation is not being noticed by the committee who created this list.

And no this isn't over 3e by itself. Really, Dragon Age? That game is alright, but it's sort of bland and nothing really "new" in my opinion.

The ennies are chosen by industry insiders, far more 'realistic' an awards system than the Origins one. I've gone to the awards ceremony, it really does cover a wide range of games, but the fact that the game system for WHFRP isn't covered has me scratching my head.

Funny that WFRP3 is running up against an RPG based on a video game (Dragonage Origins).

Should WFRP3 have been nominated for...

Artwork? Absolutely WFRP3 should win hands down. Great artwork and art design went into this products' creation.

Mechanics? I can see WFRP3 getting nominated for utilizing various other game mechanics from FFG's current line-up in an interesting and new way. I don't care for most of them, but it is different enough to be included IMHO.

Game of the Year? I don't see it. I'm not really a fan and I purchased quite a great deal of product prior to making my final decision. For a game system to be nominated, I think you need to be able to be swayed with just the core product(s). Whether this is like D&D's triumverate of core rulebooks, single hefty tome like DH or RT, or a boxed game like Dragon Age or WFRP3 it needs to be playable without waiting for extras to come out months later to "fill in" the rest of the system. As a whole I don't think WFRP3 is ready for a game of the year award. It's release schedule has been sluggish and I'm not sure the products really came out in the correct order. That's, of course, all just my opinion.

Assuming that Dragon Age Set One means that there will be more sets to come and therefore needs to be "filled in" with other products later, I triple thumbs down you, baka

From what I read of DA:O it seemed more like a bone thrown to the video gamers who also tabletopped to give them something to do outside of the video game. It never read like there was any intention to make it a fully realized game/keep it going with new products. Maybe when DA2 comes out they'll do a sourcebook, but that'd be about it.

I hear that DA:O is intended to be a trilogy of box sets which will develop the setting and raise the level caps. To me, I have no interest in it if it's just a supplement to a video game.

Bindlespin, what's a baka? Anyway, you are entitled to your opinion too, even if it's to bash mine.

So DA:O's pretty much in the same boat with WHFRP then. Adding 'core' product over time?

i meant it as a general statement of disgust and not a personal insult, just pointing out that what you said was self-contradicting. am i bashing your statement? yes, sorry:) i like how you say "i know it is just my opinion." well, it is just my opinion but i think what you said was stupid (baka). don't get mad, it is just my opinion. and please don't bash it, even if it is wrong and your opinion is right. please don't think about what i say and hold me responsible for it because it is just "my opinion."

Not mad and didn't mean to come across as such.

So "baka" means stupid? Apparently I'm not 1337 enough to understand.
