New to Arkham Horror

By Jason556, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

To all,

I just discovered this game recently and have ordered it online (should have it in a few days).

In the meantime, I have been reading the Faq's and updated rules (for vanilla AH), but I had some questions that I may have missed.

1) If a character successfully evades a monster (including horror check), would that character have to reroll for another horror check if he fought it the next turn? Example, character successfully evades and goes to location by the monster. On monster movement, it moves into the characters location. Does that player reroll Horror check even if it was previously successful?

2)Just so I understand this. A character that passes another character in movement( possibly 1 is on the street). Can give that player items AND keep moving (if movement points allow)?

2A) Not that you would want to, but can an investigator stop movement in a street? Or always a location?

Thank you for any help. My friends and I are excited to play this. As soon as we become proficient, I have already decided to get Dunhich Horror expansion.

I've always found it odd that we use the name of the second most expensive spice in the world to mean "plain".

Anyway, welcome to the Asylum you are in for a treat. As for your questions:

1: horror checks are not made when evading only before making your first combat check in a combat. If you fail to evade then you will end up making a horror check before you flee or fight the monster but just running by a monster will not trigger a horror check. And of course you only make 1 horror check per combat.

2: Yes, anytime investigators are in the same street or location they may exchange items and it will not interupt movement.

2a: Yes you can stop in a street, and there are reasons to, many rumors or environment cards require something to be done in a street location and I have in the past stood in the street in an attempt to lure a group of byakee and other flying monsters down so they could be killed since they were just hanging out in the sky causing other monsters to be funneled into the outskirts.

Thanks for the help.

Thursday cannot come soon enough.

Have a good night.

Just to clarify about the Horror Check: If you fail to evade a monster, you must then make a Horror Check before attempting to fight or flee. If you successfully flee, and then come across this exact monster later in the game, you will have to make another Horror Check against it if you fail to evade or wish to fight it. Each encounter with a monster will require a Horror Check if not evading, no matter how many times you've already come across it.

And don't forget to lose stamina for failing the stealth check.! You don't get away free because you didn't notice the God of the Bloody Tongue drooling behind you.
