Tried to do my Research

By DevoutCultist, in CoC General Discussion

Hello I am new here, but hope to be getting more involve as I dive head first into a whole new game.

I tried to do my research and come up with the answer myself, checking both the FAQ and updated rules but nothing seems to state what cards are tournament legal (trying to build something monstrous for the World Championship coming up!) I played a little when it was still a CCG and have a box of forgotten cities Boosters and 2 AP packs Ancient horrors and the mountains of madness. Are all those cards legal as long as I have sleeves?

I am familiar with the ban list and know such cards as Aspring artist have been band. I also know that since they made it a LCG game they released the Core Set and its expansion which I have picked up recently as well and am working hard to sort and organize through the hoards of cards.

Thanks for all your help ahead of time!!!! Can't wait to meet up with some of you at Gen-Con to show you the disater I will probably come up with!

P.S. any other tips for a an up and coming player are appreciated!

Welcome DC!

Da list:

Core Sets:
Core Set
Secrets of Arkham Expansion

Aslum Packs:
Mountains of Madness
Ancient Horros

Summons of the Deep cycle:
The Spawn of the Sleeper
The Horror Beneath the Surface
The Antediluvian Dreams
The Terror of the Tides
The Thing From the Shore
The Path to Y'ha-nthlei

Dreamlands cycle:

Sleep of the Dead
Journey to the Unknown Kadath

The Yuggoth Contract cycle:
Whispers in the Dark

I think thats all of em. As you've noted cards with a black border from the older ccg sets can be used with card sleeves as long as that card has been reprinted in a white bordered (aka. from one of the sets above).

Good luck building your monster and perhaps I'll see you out there. :)

Well, for World Champs, I'm not sure that black bordered cards will be permitted even if they are re-prints. They allowed it last year but I think they would like to see that players have made recent purchases and to ensure that all cards are exactly correct. (There are sometimes small language distinctions between the block bordered originals and the white bordered reprints.)

If you are thinking to bring a deck with black bordered cards, I would try to get some official approval in advance. Of course FFG is not really that quick with replying to emails, but still... I wouldn't want you to be in a situation where you show up for Worlds and they say that you can't use your deck. That would be unpleasant for everyone.

Welcome DevoutCultist!

I agree with the professor. I think it highly unlikely, make that impossible, that black border versions of LCG cards will be allowed for Championships.

And I think it's super awesome you will be competing. Go get 'em!

Thanks for all the help!

I have run across the deck builder and will be sure to check with an official on the championship rules.

but dont worry i will bug you guys for more info soon!

Thanks again!!!!!!

Ohhhh yeah one more question regarding the deck builder.. does anyone have some good american cite links. Id get it from the french sites, but I don't necissarily know what buttons I happen to be pressing on the cites =P

Maybe I could get a PM and I could give personal contact info if its private.

Thanks Again

Well, there is no 'american' 'cite' but...

There is one in English, if you prefer that! If you press the Union Jack on the top of the page, you'll get it in English. Or you can click here to go to the English version directly .

Thanks Marius got em!
