WFRP3 any good for PBP play? Canvassing opinions.

By colonel blood, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Hi guys. I'm an old time WFRP1 player who got back into the hobby around 2005 when V2 came out.

Being in my 30s my old roleplay buddies having either faded away or got out of the hobby years ago so I started to play via Play by Post (PBP) on a forum and I've had great success building up a loyal group of mates who have now been playing WFRP, Dark Heresy and Call of Cthlhu for some years (our finest moment was an 18 month Barony of the Damned campaign, a pure awesome adventure).

Anyway my question is how PBP friendly do you think WFRP3 is?

I'm curious to get into it because I'm a completist and after the initial geek quake (of which I was a small and not very vocal part) I'm hearing good things about it.

The only thing is I've got concerns about it being very tabletop focused, with all your mates having cards out stacked with other tokens for tracking and what not, and I don't want my study, where I GM alone for maybe half an hour a day, (or even at work if I can get away with it) ending up full of cards and other nerdy ephemera (aside from the massive shelves of RPG books which my wife already wants me to get rid off).

Currently I just have character sheets saved on the forum, a thread to track wounds and injuries, whatever book I need plucked off the shelf and I do my rolling with invisible castle.

So what do you guys who've played it think? Is it possible to do your tracking on paper or on a forum with little to no work?

Is it workable for players who may not have acces to the cards to be able to sensibly control their characters?

I'm genuinely interested in what you think whether you play via PBP or not.

Cheers.

There are summaries for the cards out on there, plus you could just type them in. Not an issue there.

Whatever you're used to for dice rolls would be good.

We should talk Sunatet into having a "mail GM your rolls" function on his dice roller: www.gmtools.excelocms.com/dice_roller.html
