So i added in the Dark Pharaoh expansion and we pulled and ancient while in their Other world. The combat read really weird though on how to handle fighting the ancient. Is there a special way to handle it? If so can anyone explain it a little better?
Question about Ancients
It should be exactly like it would be in final combat, but only one of you faces it.
It's just one person vs. the ancient one. Investigator attacks, then the AO attacks, until there is a winner. Either the Investigator will be devoured, or the AO will be beaten and the gate is automatically sealed.
Couple of things to remember: For every succesful hit you remove a doom token, no matter how many other investigators are in the game. It's just one on one, so you only need one success per doom token. You do not use the 'when in slumber' ability of this ancient one. Only the original AO that you drew to start the game uses that ability. If you fight Cthulu in R'Lyeh, the sanity or stamina damage he inflicts is permanent. Remember he attacks your 'maximums', so you will be stuck with these altered maximums the rest of the game.
Other than that, when I play, we do not use the Epic Battle cards for these mini-combats, we only use that against the original AO we drew, but there is nothing to say you can't if you have the cards. Good luck!
You are not supposed to use the Epic Battle cards in the dual-colored AO battles. It makes sense, anyway.
But yeah, everything DoomTurtle said is true. It's also notably ironic that you're better off bumping into the AO you're actually facing that game because he will not start with full doom tokens ![]()
Alrighty guys thanks. It just seemed kinda weird when i was reading the card but once it was explained i understand now.
Thanks Again
