I was hoping someone here could help me. I want to play in the Gencon league, but I have an event at 3:00. Does anyone know if the meeting orientation will take the 2 hours they have scheduled? Thanks for any help.
Gencon League
I think the league event was canceled. Only the daily events are happening.
Hmm, well, that sucks. I bought a ticket for it. Guess I'll have to get a refund.
I got an email saying FFG refunded my ticket. That's how I found out it was canceled. If you didn't get an email, you can contact FFG or just show up with your ticket at the FFG GenCon area. They can give you a refund.
I'm going to be helping out FFG run some event. If you're not playing in the events and I have time, I have a game. You can find me in the FFG card game area.
Thanks for letting me know. I was hoping to enter this event because I wanted to play without committing to a large block of time. I guess I'll just have to wander around the warhammer events and try to find some pickup games.
I TOTALLY agree - I was incredibly disappointed with the unexplained cancellation of the League event. FFG doesn't seem to understand how most people attend GenCon (as far as how they get involved - most people put a priority on the Exhibit Hall and then usually have tons of a free time later in the evenings, something that FFG appears to overlook or not care about).
It's frustrating for those of us who can't chronologically afford to sit around all day playing one single game in many events (even as great of a game as W:I).
Just a lame decision all around.
I'll be around the area playing pickup games, etc. You have no clue who I am or what i look like, which is fine, but I'll be around if that means anything at all.

I'll be around where they have the events looking for games, too, there's a significant chance that I won't be able to play in the Saturday World Championships, which is a shame because I'm pretty confident that I'd have made a decent run at finishing near the top (gotta pretty tight deck that I think can really cause trouble). Sigh.
Anyway, it'll be enjoyable to put some faces to the names although many of the regulars here (from the start) won't be attending GC, unfortunately.
Wait... so THIS event, which is still on the gencon main event page www.genconreg.com/events/16581 has been canceled?
Just checking... if so I don't have anything to run thursday morning anymore... should get a hold of the guys at FFG...
The Gencon Warhammer Invasion league is still going on... Not sure what event it was that you guys had canceled on you (I was informed that the LCG Triathalon event was canceled though, so if THAT'S what was canceled on you... that wasn't clear at all).
Again. THE WARHAMMER INVASION LCG LEAGUE IS STILL ON! (straight from an employees 'e'-lips)
Better tell them to do the following then ("them" being FFG):
1. Let GenCon know because GenCon informed me 2 months ago that that particular event had been canceled by FFG
2. Have FFG let us know because they had an article up not too long ago that did not list the league at all.
SO FFG ...WHAT'S UP WITH THIS LEAGUE??
www.genconreg.com/events/16581
i'm looking at it online. says its available... where's your justification that its been canceled?
Also what article was it that they'd not listed it in?
Hello All,
Not to worry. The Warhammer: Invasion Gen Con League is still on . Due to a slight glitch in the Gen Con registration system, the League as originally registered was canceled and then reposted. The correct sign-up page for the Gen Con League can be found on the Gen Con Event Registration site .
We do hope everyone who will be playing in the Warhammer: Invasion events will also have some time to participate in the League. The official rules for the league will be posted to the News page and Warhammer: Invasion Support Page this week.
Thanks and we'll see you at Gen Con!
Thanks, Jaffer, for posting this info (it was also nice to chat with you again this afternoon).
Do the leagues provide you with cards or do you play with your own decks?
I'm not sure why you thought they'd provide the cards for you - I've never heard of that kind of thing previously for any Convention leagues of any kind.
You'd have to provide your own deck as that's sort of the point, after all.
I just wanted to clarify. After looking at the description on this site, it looks like you do indeed bring your own decks. All the other league play events in gencon I have played in before (star wars and D&D minis) started you off with a small pool of product. This one also said you need zero experience so I thought I would double check. I wasn't sure what kind of a deck to bring if I was going to be playing with people new to the game. I didn't want to bring something so nasty that I would discourage people new to the game or so weak I would get run over every game.
Ah, okay. Makes sense now. I'd say bring whatever nasty deck you can! LOL
Yeah its not a demonstrational learners league... Those are always fun though!
