Duration of Blessing of Valaya

For reference, the text is:

"The next 2 damage dealt to one target unit are redirected to another target unit."

If I play this effect and target one of my characters, does its effect stick around until that unit actually takes 2 damage? It sounds from the way it's worded that it doesn't wear off at the end of the turn.

And, if this is true, does the "another target unit" that the damage is applied to have to be the same unit both times? Like, do I choose the other target initially, or is it determined as the initial target takes damage?

-The effect lasts past the turn you played the card.

-You have to choose the unit the damage is redirecting to when you play the card.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe if the unit you chose isn't in play anymore when the effect resolves, the damage is just canceled.

I forget where it has been said, but any card effect which isn't explicitly defined lasts only till the end of the turn that card was played. The DE epic only takes your opponents units for a turn not forever.

The effect wears off at end of turn, according to James' ruling. "Unless otherwise stated, card effects will end at the end of the turn. This means that Blessing of Valaya's effect will end at the end of the turn."

As someone mentioned, you can also use his ruling to assume that the DE Epic is only until end of turn, as well as a lot of other cards. Then it just becomes a matter of how a card "effect" is defined. One of the better explanations I've seen (not official, but sensible) is that cards which do not alter something in the game wear off at the end of the turn. So Blessing of Valaya would wear off as the ruling states, but a tactic that places 3 developments in your Kingdom does not mean the developments are temporary. Same with the DE Epic, as you gain control of the units, changing the "game state", and nothing says you have to give them back at the end of the turn. Obviously this is not supported strongly by any official rules, and I would have no idea how it would be ruled in a tournament. I can't imagine playing in a tournament for this game with the level of rules ambiguity that currently exists though.

I sent in for an official clarification regarding the BoV ruling vs Forced March/Your Will Is Mine.

I'm pretty sure it's meant to last longer. Look at the new card of the week. The clarification of the card sure mentions you can get enemy units out of the way for good, not untill the end of the turn.

For the DE Epic spell, it's even clearer, since they also have a tactic which can take over just one unit, and it specificaly says "untill the end of turn". It would be a horrible waste of 10 recources to just gain control of some units until the end of your turn.

Maybe there should be more of a clarification than what has been said, but if the DE epic works that way, I'll just give up the game after that card is played. No point in sitting through what is an obvious win at that point. Kind of like watching an orc player six or more hammers on the first turn, no point.

Even if the DE Epic clarification comes through as until the end of turn, it still should be game-over for the opponent at that point. He clears one entire zone, probably BZ, now all of his AND those units he just took attack an empty (of defenders) BZ. If the DE player has prepared by attacking your KZ or BZ and burning one of them earlier in the game that is. Which, if he is packing the Epic Spell, he probably should. Alternatively, if he has enough P on his own units to burn a zone, he could just clear a zone and burn that.
