Dothraki

in case you missed it they spoiled 2 cards from the next chapter pack and they show off the dothraki theme.

I have to say...I really like both of those cards. win a military get bonus intrigue claim is just gross. and the location is slightly less versitle then sea stone chair, but at least it is a lot more efficient in house. Its interesting that the two don;t work perfectly together so there would still be some in game balancing to get the best bang for your gold. Refugee of the plains just got a whole lot better too...

I'm excited. So far I haven't had much luck with Targ other than the brutal, burn-heavy strategy that takes forever to get around to winning the game. Hopefully, Dothraki will enable a more straightforward Targ theme deck.

Yes, I would hazard a guess that this is going to take them into a brutal new direction. How much easier does it make combat math and deck construction if you can build your house toward winning just one challenge, but get the benefits of all three?

Till it faces a deck that is good at stopping military challenges?

Which is kind of in-vogue these days, isn't it? Stark concentrates heavily on military, especially since the box came out. Greyjoy tends to concentrate on military, too. Now Targ. Oi.

I have to imagine that the new Clansmen traited cards for Lannister, slated to come out in the next CP set as well, will also focus on military. For example, take a look at Chella (Core), or Mountain Refugee, or any of the old Clansmen LCG cards...

Military for everyone!

I wonder though if it might be possible in an overall sense to be more efficient with that sort of build in Targ once these are out. Since you'll be able to have the added benefits and disruption of the other challenges without having to devote slots to icon diversity, you could likely dedicate those slots to further assurance that you win that challenge, or further disruption against opponent's methods. I dunno. Granted, Stark can do similar things currently by running the agenda and ignoring the other challenges, their icons, and effects entirely.

I really like the idea of additional claim effects. Especially ones that are from different challenges.

I really wonder about the other houses and their subthemes though. They have now showed us Dothraki and told us about clansman. I have a feeling that Raiders are going to be similar GJ style. Either remove or gain control of locations after you win challenges. Sand Snakes will be the vengenance mechanic? I have no idea about the Asshai or Boltons. Thoughts anyone.

Well I hope I'm wrong but if the Boltons are like the ones of old, I'm guessing alot of traior stuff as well as switching sides on you at the wrong time, or return of Dual House.

I'd like to see Boltons with a stealth and intrigue theme. It's Nedly, and would give the house some more flexibility. Dual-house would even be OK.

As for Asshai, not sure.

I would really like some more Dual House but I do not expect too much Dual House from the next cycle. I think focus will be on things like we saw with Bear Island that reward you for playing only house characters.

Asshai traditionally ahve always had a heavy intrigue, light control, holy crset, delayed rush theme going on.

Solid cards, to be sure. Targ is already really good...this should keep them moving up the scales.

Can't wait to see the Brotherhood! ~If they only had a card that gave them all +1 strength ;)
