Robert Baratheon from Valyrian

By Ikaros, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi.

Robert Baratheon (VED) states: "Response: after you declare Robert Baratheon as an attacker or defender, choose a character without renown. Remove that character from the challenge."

If I'm defending, it's alla clear, but... what if I'm attacking?

I can only trigger his response after declaring him as an attacker, so there are not yet defenders to remove?

Heh heh ... sounds like a timing issue. In a friendly game, I would allow Robert to remove characters after both attackers and defenders have been declared.

(edit): Unless you can actually postpone the Response on Robert Baratheon until after the defender is done declaring.

Was there errata to this card? If not, it sounds like it needs to say

"Response: after both attackers and defenders are declared, if Robert Baratheon is a participant in the challenge, choose a character without renown. Remove that character from the challenge."

Both of which, given his wording, are serious liberties within the game's Response timing system.

There is errata on this card that makes him a standard Challenge phase action:

"(3.9) Robert Baratheon U50

Should read: "Challenges: during a challenge in which Robert Baratheon participates, choose a character without renown. Then, remove that character from the challenge. Limit once per phase."

Check the "Legacy FAQ" in the Support section for errata on CCG-era cards.

Nice. That errata allows for it to be activated later, after all the attacker and defender declarations are made.
