[Spoilers?] Easter Eggs?

By Jephkay, in Dark Heresy

Ross said of DotDG:

"Keep a sharp eye out, because scattered through the book are many easter eggs and clues to upcoming books in the Dark Heresy game line!"

What eggs and clues is he going on about? Let's discuss!

Orks. The book mentions Orks, so there's Creatures Anathema .

What else? I'll post more when I've got the book in front of me...

I think we will see more of the Slaught in the future. I think the Tyrant Star will play into Tranch somehow and I think the Beast House will be around for a while.

Just give me more Tranch stuff.

I'm unsure if its an 'Easter Egg' but was it just me or did it seem as if Solomon was the site of a whole lot terrible events and where quite alott of High Heretics tend to make landfall... (this is just from reading the DotDG Web Content Ross put up.)

Solomon is most certainly a wretched hive (world) of scum and villany. More so than most. It seems inexplicably plagued with all manner of horrible things. Amongst them, the Slaugth (short story at the start of the Xenos chapter), rumoured origins of the Beast House (The Hell House of Solomon, page 87), The Curse of Solomon (pages 104-107), suggestions of a strong Brotherhood of the Horned Darkness presence there, the events of The House of Dust and Ash (which takes place on Solomon), as well as the histories of Ferran Ghast and Magos Vathek...

Methinks it might be due for a visit from the Tyrant Star soon, with all these oddities, heresies and atrocities in its history...

Perhaps Solomon will be the setting for the next adventure anthology Ross hinted at in one of those damnable podcasts

My thoughts exactly, but I was hoping for more of Scintilla.

I noticed a lot of references to Rogue Traders so far in this book.

hmmmm.....

Good point. Particularly I'd expect the Haarlock line to get more limelight.

Well their is an adventure series upcoming called I think the 'Trail of Haarlock' or something simmilar. I just wonder if Haarlocks tend to have long flowing brown hair and facial scars.

I noticed quite a few pop culture references like that in this most recent of releases. Those wacky Nostromo... I wonder if any of them have had bad encounter's with 'nids on board ship...

And, say, where are those crazy xenomorphs, anyway? I was fairly certain I remember genestealers being occasionally sighted in a not too far away sector...

(For those not in the know, look up Captain Harlock and Nostromo on Wikipedia)

Genestealers, Orks and the Ambull were originally present in the Beast House section. Ross has said that they'll appear in Creature's Anathema now, instead.

The shuriken weapons might indicate there are at least som template Eldar in the book and probably they'll copy the Dark Eldar from Purge the Unclean

Whenever that comes out. January/February, Spring. LOL.

Already waiting.

This is more the "Easter Egg" stuff I found.

So, we have Captain Harlock and the Nostromo family... While not an Easter Egg that I have noted in DotDG , the Sulaco also has reference with the Nostromo. gran_risa.gif Perhaps a frigate within the Battlefleet Calixis? You be the judge.

So we should expect a nid mega adventure on the horizon then?

Interesting.

But seriously, there is so much talk about Rogue Traders, makes you wonder if FFG will release a Rogue Trader book soon (LOL, yes yes, I know)

That rings a bell....

Ok, there was mention of the Nostromo family before....somewhere buried in the 40k lore files....I can't think of it off the top of my head tho.

That aside, the only other connection I can think of concerning the Nostromo is that it was the name of the ship in the first Alien movie, the one that started it all. Possible genestealer connection? The U.S.S. Sulaco was the name of the colonial marine ship in the second aliens movie. Another Xenos connection, possibly genestealer infestation? I don't know about anyone else, but when I think of the Alien movie series I think 'genestealers' or very much like them. At any rate, now we've got two possible connections to the infamous aliens that started it all.

for what it's worth, that's all I got right now.

And lets not foget the original Rogue Trader:

Besides being an obvious homage to Space Pirate Harlock , Galaxy Express and the various iterations of Matsumoto's space opera(s), I recall there being a giant black sphere (ship?) that was used to attack earth in eithier an old episode of the series or one of the movies, I think there were some weird xenos in it. Could be a literal egg (like those xenos from Xenology who hatch out of those dark spheres) or perhaps having something to do with the Tyrant Star (a black sphere/sun). I just want to know if the Rogue Trader Haarlocks will have any ships named Arcadia . battleship_arcadia2.jpg

Arcadia

(Most 40K esque version)

Ahhh... Harlock, you dashing rogue...

Some shades of other things I noticed in DotDG:

1) The conspiricy to cover up the walking dead (including a lost recording) borrows heavily from the plot of the second Resident Evil movie.

2) The adventure in the back has quite a few horror riffs, references include HP Lovecraft's "The Silver Key", Ray Bradbury's "The Jar", Algernon Blackwood's "The Doll", etc...
